Senior Director - Cloud Operations

Role Overview:

Senior Directors are responsible for mentoring and managing other leaders in the organization and generally have Senior Managers or Directors reporting to them.

Role Overview

Plan, resource, and direct activities in engineering function to a high standard on Public Sector security projects. Cultivate and reinforce appropriate group values, norms and behaviours. Identify and analyze problems, plans, tasks, and solutions. Provide leadership and guidance on employee development and performance, implement scalable, reliable cloud solutions. In collaboration with the Product and Program managers, ensure successful delivery of projects on-time and within cost. Own the delivery of product commitments and seek to improve productivity. Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements an effective FedRAMP program that leverages Department of Défense (DoD), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP), and other applicable government standards, policies and regulations (e.g., NIST 800-137, NIST 800-53, 800-37 and 800-39)

  • Assesses and reviews FedRAMP Program and strategy effectiveness and develops reports and briefings for leadership on FedRAMP Program and strategy gaps and weaknesses while also recommending solutions to enhance capabilities and address gaps

  • Review and document risk tolerance within the enterprise architecture, security architecture, security configurations, planned changes to the enterprise architecture, and available threat information

  • Assist in the development and tracking of metrics and measurements (e.g., number and severity of vulnerabilities discovered, remediation timelines and metrics, number of unauthorized access attempts, configuration baseline information, and contingency plan testing dates, and results of testing)

  • Analyses and validates the FedRAMP information collection and reporting process and provides recommendations based upon FedRAMP defined and industry best practices to improves processes and support efforts to integrate Technology outputs to automate ConMon and Annual Authorization reports

  • Provides support to the compliance audit and assessment efforts to include with external third-party auditors, customer auditors, and internal audit functions with evidence collection and upload, auditor/customer facing interview support, and auditor walk-throughs of policies, procedures, and related compliance and security documentation through various intranet portals and sites

  • Provides support with creating, updating, and maintaining documentation and evidence / artifacts and support internal efforts to create streamlined document repositories to allow ease of use and maintenance long-term

  • Motivate and communicate across multiple levels of their department

  • Develop strategies and new initiatives with their team to advance on an organizational and technical level both the department, the company and the product

  • Have successful peer partnerships with other department leaders in Engineering, and cross-functionally (Product Management, sales, marketing, alliances, etc)

  • Provide a consistent/successful interface between Engineering Development and Product Management

  • Develop leadership skills within the organization and mentor other leaders

  • Development, measurement, and management of key metrics for group's performance

  • Drive high throughput and all connected key metrics on a strategic level

  • Standardize the development process where needed, allow local differences where advantageous

  • Design strategies for future development projects based on the company’s overall objectives and resources

  • Implement innovative technologies

  • Coordinate with external stakeholders for new integrations and tools

  • Lead a 24x7 team of Cloud Operation Specialists

  • Own and improve operational processes e.g., Incident Management, Change Management, Release Management, post-mortems, RCAs, and others

  • Support & identification of training requirements for the operations team

  • Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships and alignment with partners across the business

  • Build and maintain relationships with other Cloud Operations Managers to maintain consistent policies, processes, and metrics across cloud platforms

  • Collaborate with Cloud Product Management by providing Operations’ perspective to drive improvement to the product and services with a focus on availability, reliability, scalability, etc.

  • Participate in backlog grooming to influence Engineering’s roadmap priorities

  • Maintain consistency of cloud environments through efficient release management processes

  • Provide technical and process subject matter expertise for Field teams for questions that relate to the Cloud Service Offering

Requirements/ Qualifications & Experience

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Experience managing managers, senior managers, or directors

  • Commitment to understand, communicate and improve the quality of multiple teams

  • Work experience as a director of engineering or in a similar senior-level position at an engineering department

  • Extensive experience with FedRAMP, cloud technologies and Dev Ops

  • Good understanding of agile methodologies

  • Leadership abilities with a strategic mind

  • US Citizen

  • Understanding of core system administration tools, basic networking protocols, cloud security, and compliance

  • 8+ years of experience as an established technology leader managing 24x7 operations teams

  • Extensive experience leading teams who have supported as-a-Service production environments

  • Strong management skills, but also be able to dive into technical details as needed

  • Experience with automation solutions relevant to Cloud Operations

  • Experience in project or program management. PMP or other management certification desired.

  • Demonstrable experience in supporting previous FedRAMP, NIST, ISO, SOC2 or other similar governance and compliance frameworks

  • Strong understanding of common compliance and governance framework security controls and how security controls are implemented technically for a fast-growing and fast-paced security and compliance product company

  • Must possess strong presentation skills and communicate professionally in response to emails, customer responses, auditors, and internal teams.

  • Comfortable interacting at all levels within both the internal and with customer organizations (i.e., from C-level to front-line technical staff)

  • Organized and analytical, able to identify efficiencies and eliminate internal and external obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches

  • 5-10 years Cyber Security, Information Assurance, Security/Solution Architect, technical auditing and assessments or other related experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and/or certifications (CISSP, CCSK, CCSP, or other related) desired
