We are looking for a talented and experienced Product Manager with deep technical skills to help lead our investments in making Tableau the most trusted data and analytics platform in the world.
In this role as Senior Director of Product Management on the Analytics team, you will prioritize and orchestrate our key investments across security, privacy, scalability, accessibility, performance, ethics by design, and other key product and platform requirements that help to make Trust a differentiator for Tableau. Your job is to define the vision and roadmap, aligning execution across the entirety of our Analytics portfolio while defining and modeling the best-practices that embody our core principle of customer trust. Your work will make it easier for developers to build the best analytics platform in the world while making Tableau more robust and stable for customers and enabling deployment at scales not possible today.
Your work will span the entire development lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, product prioritization and definition, and evangelism (internally and externally) of the entirety of our Trust portfolio of investments. You will communicate across departments with a wide range of stakeholders.
Some of your responsibilities include:
Define vision, strategy, and roadmap for core product and platform investments in Trust, including security, privacy, scalability, and accessibility.
Develop a deep understanding of our product and platform architecture and the requirements and path to ever-improving scalability.
Drive product/feature project definition and ensure cross-functional (developers, testers, designers, management) and cross-organizational coordination toward successful delivery of the engineering projects.
Evangelize your product/features to both internal and external customer-facing programs and events.
Mentor and teach other Product Managers and members of the Development team, particularly around global-scale product and platform development rooted in Trust.
Drive improvements to our best practices and create success metrics for your work.
Present Tableau product capabilities, vision, value propositions, and roadmap briefings to customers, prospects, the Tableau sales team, and at other public events.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Familiarity with code. Your primary job won’t be working as a software engineer but this role requires code- and architecture-level familiarity and intuition because your customers include developers.
Experience with one or more of the following: API platform development, SaaS, on-prem server architecture, cloud-hosted topology.
Technical proficiency: drive conversations around technology choices and communicate at varying levels of abstraction.
Exceptional problem solving, teamwork, and leadership skills.
Experience with Agile development methodologies.
Ability to teach and mentor others.
Ability to deal with conflict and drive to a solution.
Ability to handle ambiguity effectively and oversee multiple projects at once.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with the software developer landscape, including full-stack web development technologies.
Ability to quickly understand the product and market dynamics.
Dedication to customer success.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage expectations and customer demands.
Handle details accurately and in a timely manner.
