Sodexo Senior IT Project Manager in Boston, Massachusetts

Unit Description

The IT Project Manager is responsible for executing projects to achieve the objectives and optimum results, in compliance with the requirements formulated in the business case and in the project charter(s), in terms of quality, performance, cost, delivery and security.

Role will be accountable for maintaining the progress and the productive interactions of the project stakeholders to reduce or eliminate the overall risk of failure of the project.

The role is also in charge of liaising regularly with the program and project sponsor(s), program and project steering committee(s) and Project Management Office to provide the relevant level of reporting and information required for decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning

  • Review the Project Documentation (Charter, Project Origination Proposal, etc.) to ensure accuracy at the start of the program/project.

  • Formulate an adapted project plan and corresponding work plan(s) for each project stream to reach the objectives and benefits within the defined time-frame:

  • Understand interdependencies between project work-streams and other competing efforts.

  • Refine the business case if required

  • Refine the project(s) scope, schedule, activities, milestones, and main expected deliverables

  • Refine the project(s) budget if required

  • Identify detailed project(s) team, resources, and allocation

  • Engage stakeholders and define roles and responsibilities

  • Define a communication strategy between project stakeholders / project streams and set up project governance and instances

  • Define and indicate applicable quality procedures (issue management, risk management, escalation management, deliverables acceptance…)

  • Highlight project interdependencies with other projects

  • Work within the defined program and project management methodologies/frameworks.

Project Execution Management

  • Organize and hold project(s) and project(s) work-stream level execution kick-off meeting(s),

  • Ensure commitment to the program and project work-streams from team members, customers, or stakeholders

  • Execute the corresponding project plan(s) from planning to closing

  • Organize, coordinate, and lead the project team(s) and activities

  • Manage resources, develop schedules and individual responsibilities to perform project(s) activities

  • Manage project(s) related costs and budget

  • Supervise suppliers in charge of project activities, manage relationships with the suppliers (from signature of the contract to final validation of the project or activity deliverable)

  • Supervise and monitor project work-stream progress against approved plan

  • Coordinate, summarize and ensure the quality of issued approvals and deliverables

  • Advise on possible modifications of objectives, completion constraints or environment changes

  • Analyze and manage project work-stream risks and issues, implement risk management plan

Project Closing

  • Close the project and related work-streams and submit final deliverables with a formal handover to the RUN teams

Coordination and Reporting

  • Coordinate the activities of all project work-stream team members

  • Ensure the circulation and distribution of information regarding project management

  • Mediate in the event of any differences between the team and other stakeholders

  • Use program and project management tool to track performance and schedule adherence

  • Keep the stakeholders notified of project work-stream milestones and evolution through regular project status report

  • Work with Portfolio Management Officer, other project managers and area managers to manage project work-stream and other project interdependencies

  • Provide regular updates on the project work-stream status, risks, progress and KPIs to the Portfolio Management Officer

Knowledge Management

  • Help to create and promote the organizational culture of project management

  • Act as an advocate for best practices in project management

The Ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong depth of Project Management experience; focus on process management

  • PMP certification preferred, not mandatory

  • Experience working in an Agile team

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously from start to finish

  • High level of internal and external influencing skills

  • Strong discipline and communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and expertise in working with diverse groups of individuals and building partnerships.

Position Summary

Oversees various systems projects of a highly complex nature. Responsible for assembling project team, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedule to ensure timely completion of project. Must be familiar with the system's scope and project's objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member to effectively coordinate the activities of the team.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Basic Management Experience - 5 years

Basic Functional Experience - 3 years of experience in managing projects
