WHO WE ARE AND WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Senior Manager, IT Strategy, Architecture, Governance, Innovation & Digital Transformation will report directly to the Director of IT Strategy and Planning. The primary purpose of this role is to facilitate the development of a strategy execution plan, establish the framework for facilitating Enterprise Architecture, establish the IT Innovation and Digital Transformation practice, and lead the marketing of IT to improve the experience between consumers of IT and the IT function within Sylvamo.

Key Accountabilities:

  • IT Strategy

  • Developing the Sylvamo IT Vision, Mission, Strategy and Strategic Roadmap and on-going refresh process for a rolling three to five year information technology strategy

  • Building valued relationships with business partners, defining and developing the IT Strategy to ensure alignment with expected business outcomes

  • Helping shape strategies that will be pivotal in transforming and accelerating business and IT results through understanding business strategy, organization capability maturity models, industry, technology and digital transformation capabilities and trends, process optimization models, and key performance metrics.

  • Working closely with IT peers across the enterprise to execute against the strategic plan, principles, policies, procedures and guidelines with respectful and collaborative discussion, challenging the status quo to create value for the company

  • Enterprise Architecture

  • Establishing a model to enable Enterprise Architecture function including the Enterprise Process Framework, Reference & Data Architecture, Technical Architecture and Application Architecture

  • Defining IT Architecture Principles as well as Governance Policies, Procedures and Guidelines to achieve IT Operational Excellence, Value Creation for the company at the speed of business

  • Innovation & Digital Transformation

  • Developing the Co-Innovation model that engages business and IT resources and enables ideation and incubation

  • Developing the Proof of Concept process as well as a build and scale process to enable to production

  • Establishing intentional strategic partnerships and co-innovation relationships with 3rd parties (customers, vendors, consulting companies, universities, etc.)

  • Creating a citizen development services model that allows for business engagement and long term sustainability of solutions

  • Leading the effort within the IT organization to create a culture of innovation that accepts intelligent risk, embraces failures and accepts uncertainty of value coming out from innovation efforts

  • Building awareness with business resources on what is possible using emerging technologies as applied to business use case

  • Collaborate with the business Disruptive Technologies group to bring emerging technologies to the business that will generate value to Sylvamo Commercial Excellence and Optimized Business Operations and Performance

  • Executing strong governance practices and maturing assigned ITIL practices: Strategy Management, Architecture Management, Continuous Improvement, Portfolio Management (shared)

  • Marketing of IT including understanding, evaluating, and helping to improve the experience Sylvamo IT consumers have with IT providers; managing the promotion of IT products and services through key channels such as the Sylvamo intranet, success stories and other creative means

  • Leading a team of diverse and geographically dispersed team members through effective and efficient management and supporting the career growth and development of all team members

  • Exhibiting strong presentation skills and the ability to tailor a presentation/message to effectively communicate at the right level for the intended audience

  • Establishing effective partnership(s) with external IT consulting partner and other 3rd party service providers

  • Practicing and advocating for Safety/Well-being leadership at every opportunity

  • Displaying leadership for continuous quality and efficiency improvements

  • Be an active member of the IT Strategy and Planning lead team

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Key Challenges

  • Requires someone that can take baseline capabilities and bring them to a higher level of maturity

  • This is a highly collaborative role that requires both internal and external agility and relationship management. Additionally, this role will need to become well versed in business strategy beyond IT in order to ensure that the IT strategy is aligned with the strategic direction of our company and businesses.

  • Must have exceptional communication, analytical, and influence skills as the position regularly and significantly provides consequential business information to VP and Director-level IT leaders.

  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Must be able to influence and get work done through others in order to accomplish goals/tasks.

  • Need to work at a detail level and then rise above the detail in order to effectively communicate the business economics of an analysis.

  • Be able to quickly adapt to rapidly changing market place, business and organizational conditions.

  • Balance the desire to implement new technologies without full consideration to the impact and costs on the technology environment and support structures at Sylvamo.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • 10+ years business and IT work experience

  • People leadership experience required

  • Strong leadership skills to recruit, retain, develop and motivate individual contributors

  • Understanding of strategic direction of company

  • Exposure to developing an IT strategy

  • Experience in developing/optimizing an Enterprise Architecture practice

  • Exposure to developing an innovation practice

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • BS, BA, BBA or equivalent required (major in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related degree preferred)

  • Fluency in English
