POSITION SUMMARY

The Global Technology Procurement & Asset Management team is a sub-group of the Global Technology Procurement (GTP) organization. This department ensures that Marriott International procures and utilizes approved hardware and software in accordance with negotiated agreements and end-user license terms. The team excels in the effective negotiation, purchase, delivery, tracking and management of technology products, services, contracts, and supplier relationships throughout their lifecycle.

The Senior Manager is responsible for executing day-to-day category management for software and for managing software assets in the asset management tool. Reporting to the Director, Procurement and Asset Management, and will work closely with internal stakeholders globally to manage software assets.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

Category Management for Software

  • Executes category management for software and identifies multiple viable alternatives to meet international stakeholder needs (e.g., geography, localization, regulatory requirements).

  • Analyzes data to recommend strategies for optimizing savings, sourcing, and procurement of software.

  • Partners with contract management to ensure proper contract mechanisms and pricing schedules are in place to enable procurement of software and leverage scale to ensure best-in-class commercial terms.

  • Ability to influence stakeholder support for key initiatives by delivering clear, well-structured presentations.

  • Provides technology consulting for all internal stakeholders so that they can make tactical and strategic management decisions when purchasing software.

  • Coordinate user education and training to raise awareness of Marriott policies on the acquisition of software.

  • Develop and maintain working relationships across multiple technology areas, divisions, software publishers and resellers.

Software Asset Management

  • Governs and reports on software asset management life-cycle activities, from acquisition through retirement/disposal.

  • Serves as the enterprise level subject matter expert for software and facilitates global asset management forums and working groups to gather requirements and develop a strategy to manage software deployments.

  • Coordinates with stakeholders across Finance, Global Technology, and the regions to ensure consistent execution of software asset management.

  • Proactively reports on all software in the asset management tool, including license costs, counts, usage, and forecasts.

  • Reconciles installed software vs. licensed entitlements and provides reporting to product owner to remediate software non-compliance by initiating removals or additional purchases based on needs.

  • Performs process governance through monitoring, measuring, and reporting on asset metrics, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and software license position to internal stakeholders.

  • Identifies improvement opportunities and assists in resolution of root cause issues, contributing to the effectiveness of the team.

  • Continuously improve and innovate software asset management processes and best practices.

Software Audits and Compliance

  • Provides guidance to Global Technology stakeholders on the process, roles, and best practices for acquiring, renewing and truing-up software, and assists in establishing a center of excellence for audits.

  • Partners with Global Technology to monitor software entitlements, usages, and compliance in Marriott tools.

  • Creates and executes negotiation strategies and partners with software vendors to ensure a quick resolution to external software publisher audits.

  • Provide proof of compliance reporting and support during software publisher audits. Maintain proactive compliance and audit-defense processes.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Minimum of 5+ years of direct work experience in supply chain, procurement, technology asset management or general business administration areas; with significant background in technology field.

  • Ability to think beyond the immediate task/problem at hand and connect to the “bigger picture.”

  • Serve as a key internal business partner while also maintaining excellent account relationships with external providers.

  • Critical thinking skills, with an ability to problem solve and find creative solutions.

  • Experience with data and analytics and ability to prepare financial models and forecasts of global technology usage using excel other tools.

  • Superior data visualization skills and PowerPoint, with an ability to identify the crucial operational or financial metrics, or Key Performance Indicators, (KPIs) and provide meaningful reports to various internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong leadership, presentation, and organizational skills with an attention to detail.

  • Experience in defining/improving business processes.

  • Ability to concurrently navigate multiple tools sets and systems.

  • High degree of initiative and ability to work effectively in teams or independently.

  • Excellent customer, written and oral communication skills with an ability to deal effectively with all levels an organization.

  • Supply Chain acumen required – Fundamental understanding of how supply, demand, and effective management of a supply chain can minimize costs, optimize sourcing strategies, maximize existing assets, and improve customer satisfaction while delivering procurement execution support in a timely manner.

  • Technical acumen preferred – Existing knowledge of or ability to quickly comprehend the core software, hardware, and infrastructure elements within IT and identify evolving industry trends

  • Experience with ServiceNow platform, Flexera, SaaS control, and/or Software asset management tools.

  • Experience with asset management standard methodologies.

  • Experience in understanding and interpreting all software licensing terms and conditions.

  • Knowledge of software license and lifecycle management practices.

Education and Professional Certification

  • Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent experience of 9+ years relevant work experience.

  • ITIL certification(s,) CSAM and/or ServiceNow Certification(s) a plus

LOCATION

The position is based in Bethesda, MD with eligibility to work remotely

The salary range for this position is $96,038 to $179,270 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus.

Washington Applicants Only: Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
