Key Responsibilities:

This role is recognized within the organization as being of key strategic importance in terms of enabling the business to remain competitive and grow market share.

You will be responsible for providing hands-on technical leadership in the field of Optical Metrology for intraocular lens testing with specific ownership for the following:

  • Hands-on development and solving of optical metrology equipment.

  • Support in the development of automated optical metrology equipment.

  • Optical system alignment and sensitivity analysis.

  • Optical modeling of measurement systems and interactions with test articles.

  • Lifecycle management of existing equipment and development support of new optical measurement technologies.

  • Project management of sophisticated optical metrology projects across multiple departments and equipment vendors.

  • Responsible for instrument qualifications & test method transfer activities.

  • Responsible for optical metrology fleet management.

  • Ensuring all instrument deployments and changes are managed withing the quality management and change control process.

  • Problem solving and working through complex projects to ensure on time delivery.

  • Lead/Support the implementation of optical test methods for new product development.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • Proven experience of optical systems development is required.

  • Experience in Instrument Qualifications & Test Method Validations

  • Experience in managing instrument deployments within Quality Management and Change Control process.

Preferred:

  • Work experience in manufacturing and testing of optical systems and components required.

  • Work experience with Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) measurement systems, interferometers, and other wavefront measurement systems required.

  • Experience in optical design and tolerancing using optical design software.

  • Work experience in the industrial, technical or research environments

  • Proven experience in lab systems required.

  • Experience with cGMP in medical device industry

  • Experience with quality system requirements for lab data systems is helpful

  • Experience in the medical device lab systems preferred

  • Proficiency in use of optical design software (OpticStudio, Code V, or OSLO) is preferred .

Other:

This position may require up to 20% domestic and international travel
