VMware Senior Product Line Manager – Office of the CTO (xLabs) - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Boston, Massachusetts

VMware’s Advanced Technology Group in the Office of the CTO is looking for a Senior Product Line Manager to join the xLabs core team. xLabs is an advanced development program that works with partners, customers, and VMware teams to identify cutting edge innovation opportunities from industry and from research that are 1-2 years ahead of the roadmap. We then work to design and build aligned products that can be exited into the business units and delivered to customers as new product. Our goal is to strategically invest to accelerate new technology delivery. In this role, you will be a core member of the team, focused on helping craft product strategy, vision, and implementation of new technologies on a project by project basis. This group is currently tackling projects across a variety of cloud native, Edge, machine learning, and distributed systems technologies.

As a product manager , you will

  • Work closely with product leadership, engineering architects, and program partners to develop innovative MVPs

  • Work with UX and engineering to put together a shared vision of MVP with product market fit, that delights initial users and becomes a valuable capability for VMware

  • Help ensure your teams have the product direction needed to be successful

  • Work collaboratively across cross-functional and cross-organization divides to drive consensus for mutually favorable outcomes

  • Connect your teams’ work to other parts of the company

  • Collaborate in an agile fashion to deliver new value iteratively, to deliver new value to customer design partners quickly, to get feedback and adjust course as we learn more

  • Build relationships with customer design partners to get early feedback

  • Adjust course, identify when projects may need to pivot or “fail fast”


  • Experienced product manager who has been part of distributed agile teams

  • Experience with multiple backlog management tools including Jira, Gitlab, Github, and Confluence

  • Comfortable with ambiguous or rapidly evolving requirements

  • Flexible and willing to learn new cutting edge technologies as they emerge and then lead teams to successful results productizing them

  • Experience crafting smart MVPs that meet customer needs and are achievable by lean teams under time constraints

  • Strong consensus and alignment building skills

  • Experience with SaaS and platform design and development

  • Experience with microservice, Kubernetes, and cloud native technologies

  • Good teamwork and communication skills

This job may require the candidate to comply with travel restrictions and/or work from a facility that requires full vaccination prior to entry.
