Terra (terra.bio) is an open, extensible, scalable, and secure platform for biomedical research, designed to help researchers and data scientists focus on their science as they access data, run analysis tools, and collaborate. Microsoft is collaborating with Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT and Verily Life Sciences to expand on Terra’s open, modular, and interoperable research platform, with the addition of the Microsoft Azure cloud, data and AI technologies, global capabilities and health & life science customers and partners.
We are looking for a Senior Product Manager who will own the design, scope, and roadmap for Terra on Azure. You will collaborate with a world-class team ofproduct managers, engineers, and business leaders across the three organizations throughout the process. To succeed in this role, you should be a self-starter, have the ability to rationalize across multiple technology areas, have strong technical and analytical skills, excellent cross-group collaboration, and a passion for bringing power of cloud technologies to advancing precision medicine R&D and improving health outcomes.
Own the ideation, design, scope, and development roadmap for Terra on Azure.
Drivecross-functionalproduct management activitiesandbuild consensus on priorities, product execution and deliver on shared goals.
Manage dependencies,risks,and changes by coordinating with cross-organization counterparts and effectively optimizing the schedule, resources, and scope appropriately.
Be an advocate in bringing an Azure point of view to the overall definition and architecture of Terra platform.
Partner with Microsoft commercial/business teams in conducting market analysis and gathering customer feedback to help guide product requirements, priorities, and roadmap.
Understand product compliance requirements and manage the compliance process.
Effectively collaborate, build relationships, drive clarity and alignment across organizations.
Bring your curiosity, entrepreneurial spirit, and passion to deliver on the promise of technology in a difficult, competitive, and exciting space.
5+ years of Product/Program management experience leading a cloud service, ideally in high performance / distributed computing or bigdata analytics space.
Experience working within an agile software development team, leveraging experimentation, and prototyping while continuing to measure and iterate.
Outstanding technical problem solving and ability to conceptualize complex ideas quickly and convey those thoughts to others in a clear and effective manner.
Proven ability to lead through ambiguity while partnering across organizations; both internally and externally.
Proven ability to run complex projects; see the “bigger picture” and focus on end-to-end scenarios.
Bachelors and/or graduate degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical disciplines.
Experience in enterprise systems and cloud technologies as it relates to bioinformatics workloads and pipelines is a plus.
Demonstrated experience in Bioinformatics / bio-medical data platform / big data systems is a plus.
Familiarity with open-source software systems and methodologies.
Experience with authoring and producing whitepapers and presentations.
Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization and ability to build lasting relationships with and striving for consensus across stakeholders.
