Humana Senior Product Owner in Boston, Massachusetts

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ability to create, design and be the advocate for enterprise API contracts for multiple projects simultaneously 

  • Understand common API standards across multiple teams and products to ensure designing a similar internal/external developer experience when interacting with our APIs.

  • Understand trends within the API industry to influence our internal API strategy, including the adoption of new frameworks, styles, or technologies

  • Ability to create and lead various API designs for multiple projects simultaneously 

  • Work to connect the dots across resources through all phases of product life cycle

  • Work with engineering and architecture teams & other product owners to design and define API contracts

  • Lifecycle manage & prioritize work for the engineering teams as per business priority.

  • Advocate, provide information and support build and management of the enterprise API's with internal and external stakeholders. Must be able to partner with business leaders, customers and partners to elicit, understand, analyze, document, refine and communicate business needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, information technology, or an equivalent in work experience.

  • 3+ years of experience working within the API space / technology in requirements gathering, design or development

  • Experience working with data mapping, understanding business requirements to translate into technical specifications.

  • Ability to work in close collaboration with architecture and engineering team to define user stories and managing/ prioritizing engineering backlog

  • Experience in Agile development or comparable software development methodology.

  • Strong problem solving, communication and analytical skills

  • Curiosity, quick learning attitude to get a grasp of new tools & connect the dots on how to cater to the business use cases

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters in information Technology/ equivalent experience

  • Experience working with data mapping, API design, working with API design tools like Swagger, Postman etc

  • Experience in data acquisition/aggregation/data modelling and/ or healthcare industry highly desired

  • Worked closely with architecture team to build and design API's to serve various business needs

  • Demonstrate technical proficiency and effectiveness working closely with Software Engineers, Architects and QA.

  • Curiosity, quick learning attitude to get a grasp of new tools & connect the dots on how to cater to the business use cases

  • Demonstrate a strong ability to drive execution of complex and enterprise level technology solutions (e.g., move projects forward with unknowns and anticipate and mitigate risks

  • Ability to take initiative and own an API design and drive it to completion.

Additional Information

Humana and its subsidiaries require vaccinated associates who work outside of their home to submit proof of vaccination, including COVID-19 boosters. Associates who remain unvaccinated must either undergo weekly negative COVID testing OR wear a mask at all times while in a Humana facility or while working in the field.

Work-At-Home Requirements

  • WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.

  • A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.

  • Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.

  • A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information
