Microsoft Corporation Senior Program Manager in Boston, Massachusetts

Within MS Digital, our organization is part of the Employee Experience (EE) team that helps ensure every employee is productive from day one.

The Enterprise 360 (E360) team in EE powers the company’s core infrastructure, including network and connectivity services that are fundamental to local and remote worker productivity. The scope of facilities and infrastructure E360 supports covers the globe, involves numerous first and third parties and reaches everything from our campus office buildings, to customer facing spaces, our data centers, to our partners and Azure.

Within E360, the Infrastructure Engineering Services(IES) team builds software solutions that help manage Microsoft's core infrastructure.

We are looking for a Senior PM that can define and build new capabilities that use AIOPS to help intelligently manage the network. Work closely with the teams architecting Operational tools, alerting systems, and automated fault detection and correction. Bring AIOPS thinking to solutions that integrate automated network management, configuration management and drift detection to help correct, predict and prevent operational failures. You will work closely with Data Intelligence teams to use common data lakes, tools and Machine Learning algorithms to solve business problems.

As a PM in IES, you will work across organizational boundaries to deliver on key global initiatives aligned to broad strategic initiatives. This includes leading efforts to define, design and develop solutions to measure network service health. In doing so, you will understand the needs of our global users and provide customer centric and data driven feedback on the performance of our network.

Responsibilities

As a Program Manager, you will:

  • Be a subject matter expert for all aspects of operations for your program or service area - understand the end-to-end flow, how the business rules are executed and ensuring compliance is the top priority.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to translate customer, business, and technical needs and requirements into actual deliverables, with focus on live-site services.

  • Ensure highly resilient and scalable service designs through partnership with other members of the service team and see them through the service lifecycle.

  • Set standards in alignment with the service leadership and ensure these standards are met across services under different workloads.

  • Effectively partner with globally dispersed Business and Engineering stakeholders to articulate business outcomes and objectives

  • Lead sprint teams (i.e., consisting of software engineers, service managers, service engineers, business program managers, etc.) to deliver on our shared commitments

  • Provide program direction and leadership; effectively communicating program updates to executive sponsors, business stakeholders and project team members

  • Advocate and influence the engineering community in the Scrum Agile framework

  • Build and grow effective inclusive teams; drive the Microsoft strategy; and be a role model of Microsoft values to deliver exceptional results

  • Define, drive, and champion organizational key results collaborating across services and organizations to achieve goals.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of Program Management experience with demonstrated success in supporting large-scale enterprise grade networks and new initiatives in live-site service

  • 3+ years of experience working with Agile (Scrum) methodology, driving prioritization, stack ranking, cross team dependency mapping and release/semester planning

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or a related field, or alternative educations, skills, and/or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of networking concepts like OSI Model, routing protocols (BGP, ISIS, OSPF), circuit types such as MPLS and point-to-point

  • Experience partnering with software engineering teams, translating customer needs and technical requirements into service architecture.

  • Proven sense of high accountability and self-motivation to take on big challenges

  • Demonstrated ability of managing multiple competing priorities, be organized and detail oriented; making data driven decisions and result/ROI focused delivery

  • Strong cross-organizational collaboration skills in a highly matrixed organization to solve challenging business/technology problems

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with senior leaders and customers

  • Manage a mixture of stakeholders consisting of diverse range of people with inclusion as a priority.

  • PMI-ACP, PMP, CSM and/or CSPO certification

  • Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) or higher cloud certification

  • IT Infrastructure certifications (e.g. Cisco, Palo Alto, Arista, EMC)
