RedHat Senior Quality Engineer in Boston, Massachusetts

Job summary

The Red Hat R&D team is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join us in Boston, MA. In this role, you will develop automation framework and scripts with Ruby, Go, or Bash languages for automation testing and implementation.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Participate in the test planning and product planning processes

  • Conduct new feature research and design test cases

  • Install the test environment, carry out manual tests, and deliver clear status for testing areas

  • Focus on test planning, research, execution, and automation using OpenShift software-defined networking (SDN)

  • Document and advocate the resolution of new bugs with developers and communicate the impact on customers to developers and support

  • Maintain an overview of current technologies

  • Communicate with other, globally distributed quality engineers and developers working with Red Hat OpenShift


Required skills

  • Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in computer science or a related field

  • 5 years of experience in the job offered or a related job

  • 5 years of experience with quality engineering (QE); test experience working with globally distributed QE team members; testing methodologies and techniques; programming language skills in Bash, Java, Go, Ruby, or Python; UNIX or Linux operating systems; and testing network protocols and network devices (real or virtual)

  • 3 years of experience with network protocols like TCP, UDP, HTTP, IPv4/6, SSL/TLS, and DHCP; network test tools like Wireshark, pcap, tcpdump, iptables, dig, and netstat; network authentication protocols including OAuth, LDAP, Active Directory, and RADIUS; network policy design and configuration; and agile software development and test methodologies

  • Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time; all expenses will be covered by Red Hat
