Amazon Web Services Senior Software Development Manager / Director Experience - Lead a New Platform in AWS in Boston, Massachusetts

Do you want to lead a team of talented engineers with a rare opportunity to innovate and build a new platform with Amazon Web Services?

Come join our teams in AWS, you’ll help us design and develop solutions that enables AWS to comply at scale. We're building a new platform that will radically change compliance across all industries for customers worldwide. You assume zero tech debt and get to greenfield software solutions with senior engineers. As a Software Development Manager (SDM), you’ll manage/lead the engineering design and decisions with a team of engineers and program partners. As a SDM with our team, you will empower engineers to take tech risks, collaborate with other managers on technical design and strategy with a career opportunity for growth that only AWS can offer.

To succeed in this role, you believe in high standards for code quality, code reviews, testing, and operational excellence. You believe people come first, and have experience managing engineers through autonomy and consensus building. You create mechanisms for achieving results and iterating improvements and can lead a team to deliver results in a space that operates like a start-up, with the autonomy to build the right solution from Day One.

This role is available in New York City (NY), Boston (MA) or Arlington (VA).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· 7+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams

· 5+ years of people management experience, managing engineers

· Experience in partnering with product and program management teams

· Knowledge of emerging platforms, Linux, operating system principles, and programming best practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience with serverless computing, enterprise-wide systems, and AWS products

· Experience working successfully with partner teams at remote locations

· Understanding of Agile software engineering practices

· Experience mentoring software engineers

· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role

· Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
