Boston Private Bank & Trust Company Senior Software Engineer in Boston, Massachusetts
The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for developing and supporting all custom development software applications and utilities as well as the integration components between systems. The successful candidate will also be responsible for working closely with other software engineers, developers, business owners, database administrators, vendors, and end-users to ensure the systems are functioning and performing optimally.
Work closely with team members to develop and maintain application support and documentation for the bank’s internally developed applications
Function as a mentor for junior software engineer(s), providing assistance where needed; Assisting in the hiring of additional staff within the department
Predict emerging customer needs and develop innovative solutions to meet them; Solve unique and complex problems with broad impact on the business
Participate in the development of business strategy for the Bank as needed
Translate highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
Develop and Support Web Services and REST APIs using XML, SOAP and JSON
Develop Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) Integration components using Mulesoft, Any Point Studio, message routing, Any Point Connectors, data weave and Salesforce Data Loaders
Develop database components using Entity Framework, SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS
Develop system test plans, oversee testing of new or modified applications, and ensure applications meet specifications
Assist application owners with unit testing, regression testing, script testing, user acceptance testing and test environment support
Develop integration plans and ensure the incorporation of plans into integration testing process
Ensure documentation of functions and changes to new or modified modules, tests activities/results, error handling, and backup/recovery procedures
Provide expert advice on complex system design issues and contribute to ongoing planning and development of systems enhancements
Provide technical expertise, training, and consultation to other staff; Provide ongoing maintenance and operational support for applications
Supports software development lifecycle and applies and follows appropriate programming/development methodologies and best practices as instructed
Flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing business environment which may include learning new Technologies
Maintain the Bank’s website relationship with the vendor and make changes that don’t require code changes by the vendor
Keep up-to-date on new technologies; and Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum requirements : Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field; and 3 years of hands-on web development experience in banking/financial services.
Must have : Experience in .Net, Visual Studio, Dynamic HTML (DHTML), Jira, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, TFS, and Hyperion; Experience developing custom API with the SDK provided by a third party and integrating cloud applications like SFDC using Mule ESB; Experience designing, developing, and implementing client/server and web applications using Microsoft technologies; Demonstrated experience working with Agile methodology and Agile scrum software development life cycle (SDLC) as well as Waterfall methodologies; Experience working with SQL including reporting services, writing scripts, and creating packages; Ability to work with existing and new vendors, their application(s) and services; Demonstrated ability to document application support methodology and procedures; and Proven experience with troubleshooting principles, methodologies, and issue resolution techniques. (Unless otherwise indicated, employer is seeking ability in the skills listed above with no specific amount of years of experience required. All experience can be gained concurrently.)
