Autodesk Software Development Manager in Boston, Massachusetts

Position Overview

Autodesk Building team is seeking a Team Manager with experience in agile software development practices to participate in and manage a cross-functional scrum team focused on managing and enhancing a mission-critical Cloud Service in the Autodesk Revit family. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the agile “servant-leader” role and will be able to balance acting as the manager with encouraging the team towards a culture of self-organization and ownership of the work and processes.

With the time that is not spent on direct management responsibilities, you should be able to help the teams deliver working software in other ways, e.g. by contributing to the agile processes or by testing, designing or developing software depending on your skillset. Responsibilities

  • Support, encourage and assist the members of an agile team

  • Recruit and hire new team members as necessary

  • Identify opportunities for individuals to grow within their role, including opportunities for training, challenging assignments, and new collaboration

  • Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture that values continuous improvement and iteration

  • Establish team goals that connect to the wider organization goals; monitor progress against them

  • Work with the product owner to help the teams deliver working software every sprint and release valuable and useful capabilities at regular intervals

  • Be the spokesperson for the team and champion its accomplishments and causes with management and adjacent teams

  • Maintain a competent level of technical expertise to work effectively with team members and the broader Autodesk technical community

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience working on software development teams

  • 5+ years of formal or informal leadership experience – we’d like to see that you can inspire and influence others, even if it was not in an official manager role

  • Ability to operate effectively and independently in a dynamic, fluid environment

  • Excellent communication skills

  • BS, MS or PhD – Engineering or Computer Science is a typical qualification, but we’d be open to folks who took other paths to the world of software engineering
