The Role

This role, reporting to the Vice President of Learning and Organizational Capability, is a keystone role that will work closely and collaboratively with the heads of each function within L&OC (Learning & Development, Organizational Development). The role will be responsible for ensuring that our programs and projects are driving strategic business outcomes. The role will also serve as a liaison position with Suffolk’s Business Intelligence and People Analytics teams.

Responsibilities

  • With strong guidance from L&OC Leadership, work with Suffolk’s Business Intelligence Team and other areas of the People & Culture Department to build the data analytics capability within L&OC:

  • Define and implement the L&OC function’s data strategy

  • Establish and manage L&OC data governance

  • Establish scalable and replicable data processes and practices within L&OC

  • Design L&OC dashboards - Lead and manage the design, production and continuous improvement of key L&OC metrics to ensure that measures represent high-quality, business-relevant information

  • Ensure data quality - Conduct regular quality reviews of data inputs, and final analytics to ensure a high-quality end product

  • Recommend metrics and targets – Analyze existing metrics to understand current state and recommend targets for L&OC metrics to ensure that measures represent high-quality, business-relevant information

  • Over time, develop and maintain library of model documents, templates, and other reusable knowledge assets

  • Establish timely flow of L&OC-related business intelligence to stakeholders

  • Partner Cross-Functionally to Inform Business Decisions with Data

  • Build strong relationships and be a change agent – Develop and maintain a strong network of stakeholders across the organization to identify areas where data sets would be more powerful if shared and combined.

  • Partner closely with Suffolk’s Business Intelligence team, areas across People & Culture, and the Operations Support team to inventory and analyze people data

  • Ad hoc training - Provide training cross-functionally as needed on L&OC data analytics tools and processes to enable data discovery and self-service analytics

  • Act as a Business Analyst for L&OC

  • Support the L&OC annual strategic goals with strong data analytics

  • Effectively collect data (qualitative and quantitative), develop/produce reports, conduct data analysis, and create visualizations of data

  • The role will initially require some amount of data extraction, cleaning, and harmonization, as well as dashboard building

  • Generate custom reports summarizing L&OC data for review by executives, managers, clients, and other stakeholders

  • Synthesize current or trend data to support recommendations for action

  • Conduct special projects – E.g., conduct studies to address specific business questions, develop and produce new data and analytics solutions to drive insight

Qualifications

  • 4-year college degree in a quantitative or business-related field

  • 3+ years as an Business, Finance or Strategy Analyst

  • Excellence in analytical problem definition and structuring

  • Relentless focus on data precision and vigilance around appropriate conclusions

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite generally, and data analytics tools, with an aptitude to learn new programs;

  • Proficiency in Tableau, Microsoft Access, Oracle and SQL a plus

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to synthesize implications from analytics

  • Strong people skills, with a focus on client service and team work

  • Experience with construction, especially construction management systems, is a plus

  • Ability to multi-task, set clear priorities, and manage projects and tasks with limited oversight

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
