This Opportunity

The WSP US Advisory practice is dedicated to transforming the business of infrastructure across the transportation, buildings, energy, water, environment, and power sectors. We provide our clients with the full range of strategic planning, organizational development, economic and financial analysis and project development services supported by WSP"s engineering expertise in all infrastructure markets.

With changing economic conditions, evolving government priorities, aging assets and emerging technologies, clients rely on the Advisory Services team for its unique combination of infrastructure expertise and management consulting leadership. We help clients who develop, procure, manage, finance and invest in infrastructure assets to successfully deliver programs and projects.

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our Enterprise Management & Strategy Business Line. This individual will join a group of trusted advisors in delivering business and operational solution while helping to shape the future growth of the nation’s built environment. WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Strategic Director, Advisory Services. This position can sit anywhere in the US that has an advisory hub.

Your Impact

  • Provide proactive and strategic process and people leadership for the design, implementation, and administration of Advisory Service’s project and program involvement within the organization.

  • Lead the most complex and largest scale Advisory Services projects within the company, ensuring contributors know what they are required to do and by when, preparing and overseeing relevant project budgets, monitoring internal and external events, tracking hours and expenses, ensuring satisfactory performance and profitability, and supervising subcontractors, external stakeholders, contract work, and employees.

  • Lead by example with fostering and providing “trusted advisor” service and future-ready solutions for clients.

  • Responsible for the pursuit and development of business and the successful execution of work for current and potential infrastructure work within a geography specifically for the large projects within the area.

  • Lead technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations, and meetings.

  • Drive the overall long-term strategy, growth, and pipeline development of Advisory Service’s work for WSP in assigned area of responsibility, with a focus on infrastructure opportunities in all disciplines (transportation, buildings, energy, water, environment, and power sectors).

  • Accountable for the profitable performance of the individual projects and the successful completion of the projects within the specified area.

  • Assist with the preparation of an annual update to business tactical action plans within the specified area.

  • Drive compliance and accountability-at-all-levels with applicable Federal, State, and Local environment, design, construction, financial laws, codes, policies, and regulatory requirements.

  • Oversee internal vision and mission for the discipline within Advisory Services, ensuring alignment with business operations strategy, and maintaining that certifications, accreditations, reputation, and client value ratings are continuously improved.

  • Serve as an Advisory Services representative/liaison to a variety of external entities including Federal, State, and Local Agencies, Clients, Subcontractors, industry-related groups, and various government and community entities.

  • Provide senior leadership for proposals and project work scopes, pricing, budget, and performance metrics for the Advisory Services discipline.

  • Interpret and summarize data, including reports and documents for complex projects and initiatives that result in sound business practice and regulatory conclusions.

  • Provide discipline leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams and contribute to providing high level strategic advice to clients.

  • Provides performance guidance and proactive leadership to assigned managers and staff.

  • Develop high-level business contacts and a client base for providing high level Advisory Services including identifying additional business development opportunities, marketing, proposals, and cross-selling of other WSP capabilities.

  • Manage scope, schedule and budget on large projects

  • Create and apply evolving requirements and innovative practices to large, highly visible projects across the US

  • Possess ability to conduct business process re-engineering within large infrastructure organizations

  • Work directly with clients to analyze business processes, organizational strategy and business analytics, and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Lead in client meetings and being to interact directly and independently with clients to understand and meet grant requirements for major capital projects

  • Produce high-quality business support, professional deliverables independently on projects and proposals

  • Contribute and interact well with others, as well as develop and manage high quality technical and professional deliverables on projects and proposals

  • Contribute and lead various national business development efforts

  • Independently perform complex qualitative and quantitative analysis, document findings, and present project outcomes to client groups

  • Contributes to thought leadership independently

  • Takes initiative in developing technical excellence in providing high quality level performance

  • Analyze needs and opportunities at a complex high level, identify alternatives and priorities

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

  • 15+ years" experience in directly relevant endeavors

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and high emotional IQ

  • Proven experience in consulting or a comparable role in developing organizational capability and performance improvement from within an organization

  • Hands-on leader, collaborator and strong team player

  • Self-starter, who can get things done efficiently

  • Project Management experience - able to manage efforts within scope, schedule and budget

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree is preferred.

  • Proven experience facilitating diverse groups through complex topics

  • Experience in designing and implementing process improvement practices

  • Lean Six-Sigma certification (or similar)

  • Prosci certification (or similar)
