Sonos Sr. Hardware Systems Integration Engineer in Boston, Massachusetts

As a Sr HW Systems Integration Engineer on the Product Integrity Engineering team, you’ll be impacting the HW quality of our future smart speaker products during the development process all the way from early concept definition to mass production readiness. You will be accountable for the verification of all the relevant hardware subsystems as well as the final, fully integrated product. You will contribute to the product development success by working with a team across many disciplines including acoustics, mechanical, electronics, system software and RF.

We are looking for a senior level engineer who is curious about how things work and who is passionate about working with both hardware and software. You do not have to be an expert in everything but you are excited by challenges and take initiative to learn and collaborate with others. You do what it takes to get things done.

What You’ll Do:

• Early in the development process, support the project lead to analyze the program HW NUDs (New, Unique, Difficult), identify gaps and improve test methods.• Use strong test engineering skills to create effective tests and collaborate with the team to drive issues to resolution.• Help develop product requirements & specifications and the verification plan for your area. • Responsible for developing and maintaining test scripts to help with test automation. • Effectively communicate HW test results with the project lead and within the product program ensuring HW related risks are well managed and mitigated.• Ensure all HW issues are properly logged into the JIRA database and fixed in a timely manner. Ensure consistent root cause analysis process. Champion the debug effort for major defects. • Support the project lead and manufacturing partners to improve product performance until mass production quality is achieved. • Ensure smooth transition of responsibilities to the Sustaining Engineering team post mass production.

Basic Qualifications:

5+ years experience as a hardware test engineer in product developmentBSEE or equivalent educational background.2-5 years scripting development experience. Ability to script in Perl, Python or other common scripting languages.Proficient working at Linux shell/terminal Ability to conduct design of experiments to identify problems.Permitted to work in the USA. Able to travel within the US and Asia. Ability to attend occasional off-hour meetings via phone or Zoom.

Preferred Qualifications:

Good working knowledge of computing systems including analog/digital electronics. Design or test experience on transducers, audio amplifier hardware, acoustics, wireless communication technologies, power supplies, ethernet and signal integrity is a strong plus.Past collaboration with external ODM/JDM/CM partners from Asia.Working knowledge of quality tools and statistical methods

We consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may cause compensation to vary depending on your skills, experience and qualifications. This job is also eligible for discretionary bonuses as well as an opportunity to become a Sonos shareholder because all full time employees are eligible for stock grants. The minimum base pay may be modified in the future based on changing market conditions. The starting minimum base pay for this role is:

$130,000
