VMware Sr. Manager, GTM Plays & Transformation - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Boston, Massachusetts

The Sr. Program Manager for GTM Plays & Transformation is an important role at VMware and one that will evolve over time as we work to industrialize our GTM play system across the organization to multiple internal and external stakeholders. This individual will oversee strategy execution, planning, and management of critical initiatives as a key member of the GTM Plays organization including command center program execution and rhythm of the business, program management of transformational and velocity plays, driving weekly program updates to executive level stakeholders partnering closely with our GTM transformation office leads, functional members, and external vendors as needed.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Collaboration - Effectively direct workstream leads to deliver and meet program objectives. Demonstrate leadership, partnership, and collaboration; motivate and inspire cross-functional program teams

  • Create Clarity and Solutions - Embrace and clarify murky business problems; lead discovery to define objectives and design programs to achieve them

  • Evangelize - Influence to achieve program buy-in at all levels of the organization, including senior executives; understand and attend to business drivers, individual motivations, and the program’s differing impact across various business units.

  • Measurement & Reporting - Define and regularly report on program metrics and measurement

  • Drive Alignment - Ensure all stakeholder parties are appropriately informed and aligned. Surface decision points and misalignment; proactively seek out and manage objections and competing perspectives

  • Manage Risk - Continuously monitor program exposure and ensure appropriate risk communication, escalation, and risk mitigation plans are in place

  • Assessment - Drives preparation of GTM play health checks and readiness across BUs and functional teams

Preferred qualifications:

  • Understanding of VMware’s core markets and competition

  • Adaptability - Highly adaptable and agile in an exceptionally dynamic and fast-paced environment

  • Focus - Able to thrive within ambiguity

  • Experience - 5+ years experience leading large and complex programs & projects. Successfully demonstrated ability to direct the work of workstream leads and remote cross-functional teams.

  • Results - Proven track record of achieving business objectives through leading complex enterprise-wide programs

  • Communication - Excellent communication skills; effectively achieve appropriate transparency, set expectations, tell a story, highlight misalignment; Effectively partner & present with senior executives.

  • Relationships - Collaborative; Excellent interpersonal effectiveness; Able to have critical conversations

  • Influence - Able to achieve buy-in at executive & all levels and influence without authority. Readily understands business drivers, program impact, and individual motivations.

  • Skills - Deep understanding of Program and Project Management best practices and strong organizational skills

  • Growth Mindset - Humble and self-aware; continually seeks opportunities to improve self and others

This job may require the candidate to comply with travel restrictions and/or work from a facility that requires full vaccination prior to entry. Further, depending on various factors, including legal challenges to the Executive Order on Ensuring Adequate COVID Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors, VMware may require employees to be fully vaccinated effective January 18, 2022.
