The Role

Coordinates Lumen technical resources to facilitate the growth and maintenance of client solutions. Identifies compliance and risk in client operations and provides technical narrative to business stakeholders. Supports local and global and strategic client accounts. The role requires a broad horizontal skill set and core competencies in managed hosting, security, network, cloud solutions and estate lifecycle management and reporting. In addition to experience in leading technical teams, competency in areas such as business acumen, relationship building, and client interaction are required.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of client-facing technology consultants who act as an extension of the client’s technical team, representing the client to Lumen and Lumen to the client.

  • Supports the team in making proactive recommendations to clients for service optimization and enhancement based on effective relationships at all levels both internally and externally (up to C Level).

  • Provides lifecycle technical leadership within the Lumen account teams in support of the client, assuming responsibility for the client’s architecture based on understanding of clients’ current technical environment, business application(s) and future IT strategy and requirements.

  • Supports teams in problem resolution and incident management in an advisory role on client impacting events.

  • Engages with sales, solutions engineering, and implementation team to facilitate fast and efficient introduction of new technology.

  • Creates and processes customer-facing technical documentation as required.

  • Leads technical workshops and meetings, making recommendations to enhance technical solutions.

  • Supports and develops the team to oversee projects and service delivery, coordinating major changes and maintenance, ensuring implementations meet client expectations and technical requirements.

  • Regularly generates reports and technical recommendations in areas such as server statistics and network and bandwidth utilization.

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Experience in managed hosting, security, network, cloud solutions and estate lifecycle management and reporting with strong knowledge of Layer 2 & Layer 3 networking technologies and all major vendor enterprise class switches and routers

  • Implementation and support experience in the following:

  • MPLS/MPLS VPN and WLAN and Voice/Network convergence

  • QOS and traffic engineering techniques and Software defined networking & SD-WAN

  • Network monitoring tools (SolarWinds Orion NPM, Cisco Works, NetQOS, NetBrain,etc.)

  • Ability to lead, manage team of engineering/architects (globally) and significant industry experience in providing managed services to large, global clients.

  • Strong sales support skills, recognizing client needs for current and follow-on opportunities, gains client respect, and possesses good relationship building skills. Strong communication and influencing skills including collaborating with Sales Leadership. Takes accountability within the team for client problems or failures, responsible for team actions, demonstrating strong ethics and integrity and practices consistent follow-through.

Preferred Knowledge/Experience

  • Servers and storage as well as Firewalls and perimeter security solutions

  • Virtualization Education and Certifications, Network Automation and one or more of the following: CCNA, CCIE, CSSP, CISSP

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
