J&J Family of Companies Sr. Principal Systems Engineer, Human Digital Interaction in Boston, Massachusetts
DePuy Synthes, a member of Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer, Human Digital Interaction to be located in Providence, RI or Boston, MA area. If located in Boston, candidate will be expected to travel to Providence regularly.

The Sr. Principal Systems Engineer, Human Digital Interaction will be responsible for user-centered aspects of digital product development. It will be embedded in the Digital Robotic Surgery organization. This role will work closely with all functions of R&D and the business to discover unmet needs and creates the concepts to address those needs using state-of-the-art tools, prototyping and simulation.
A minimum BS/BA Degree in technical field. Degrees focused in any of the following areas is a plus: HFE (Human Factors Engineering), Usability Engineering, Cognitive Science, Anthropology, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Mechanical Engineering.
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a highly regulated industry. Post-Graduate Degrees (MS, PhD) are a plus and will be considered as part of the applicant’s professional experience.
A minimum of 5 years human factors/usability engineering experience/ use case validation testing or equivalent relevant experience in product development and customer interactions is required.
Experience focused in the medical device industry is preferred.
Demonstrated expertise in the planning and execution in the following areas: ethnographic research, formative and summative studies, human device interaction design, documentation for design control and risk management is preferred.
Knowledge of user interface design and general knowledge about human perception, cognition and a basic knowledge of anthropometrics, biomechanics and physiology is preferred.
Familiarity with FDA, ISO, AAMI, and other relevant usability regulations and standards is highly preferred.
Clinical experience and/or professional experience/degrees in software development and/or GUI development is a strong plus.
This position will be located in Providence, RI or Boston, MA area. If located in Boston, candidate will be expected to travel to Providence regularly. Position will also require up to 15% travel depending on business needs.
