Pharma Services Group - Viral Vectors. The Science and Technology Team (STT) develops novel manufacturing and analytical platforms and technologies that can be utilized in the manufacture and testing of advanced therapies for disease treatments.
How will you make an impact?
In this highly visible position, you will be primarily responsible for working with colleagues in STT to drive growth, innovation and customer engagement by supporting the innovation and development of manufacturing and analytical platforms utilized in the manufacture of advanced therapies. This position requires an experienced professional with strong technical background, an understanding of clinical biologics processes in advanced therapies, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
What will you do?
Lead multiple internal and external projects of varying scope and complexity for the STT team. Serve as the primary liaison and contact point between the internal and external team for external collaboration projects.
Lead the planning, execution, and closing of cross-functional projects, and be responsible for the coordination of inputs from key internal and external stakeholders, interaction with various cross-functional teams, and creation and execution of a project plan from initial stage through to project completion. This includes the development of new platforms, evaluation of new technologies and products, process and analytical method development, tech transfer activities, and other internal projects as needed.
Identify, assess, and mitigate potential project risks with the team. Develop and implement mitigation strategies and communicate progress against plan, issues, and risks to all stakeholders. Facilitate decision making within the team to drive progress and ensure on time and on budget completion of project deliverables.
Manage project governance. Communicate project status, escalate issues as needed, and ensure alignment with key stakeholders and group leadership.
Produce periodic progress reports or update on project status to leadership or other stakeholders using established communication mechanisms.
Provide mentorship to junior program managers in fundamentals of program management.
Travel will be up to 25%.
How will you get here?
Minimum of Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. biology or life sciences); Advanced degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. biology or life sciences) is preferred.
Certification (PMP or Six Sigma) is preferred.
8+ years experience in a direct Program Management role with a Bachelor's degree; or 6+ years experience in a direct Program Management role with an advanced degree
Technical background in advanced therapies (e.g. cell or gene therapy) preferred
Familiarity with GMPs
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Understanding of biopharmaceutical / viral vector product lifecycles from development through commercial, with knowledge of the appropriate activities and requirements for each phase. Knowledge of the advanced therapies space. Possesses strong technical background and scientific understanding necessary to actively contribute to technical reviews / discussions at the project team level and explain / defend decisions and conclusions.
Strong communicator who thinks logically and can interact effectively with project team and other stakeholders. Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of management including senior management.
Outstanding organizational, planning, analytical, and interpersonal skill. Builds relationships with team members and other colleagues. Ability to influence actions and drive for results in a matrixed environment.
Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining and understanding strategic priorities and perspective. Ability to manage multiple projects of varying complexity at the same time.
