DePuy Synthes is seeking a Staff Software Product Development Engineer, Digital Orthopedics to join our team in Boston, MA. You will be responsible for identifying and defining new product software features for our robotic-assisted medical devices and digital surgery solutions. This highly collaborative position works with Marketing, Systems, Development, and Verification team members to ensure new product features are both safe and effective. The Staff Software Product Development Engineer, Digital Orthopedic Surgery reports to Software Product Development Manager of Digital Orthopedic Surgery. Our rapidly growing Digital Orthopedic Surgery Team uses technology to improve the performance, accuracy, and safety of a wide range of surgical procedures.
Collaborate with marketing, clinical, engineering, and quality teams to identify and define new software features.
Define data management and IoT features for the collection, transmission, and processing of surgical data and device telemetry.
Define cybersecurity requirements to ensure connectivity features are reliable and secure.
Define internal- and customer-facing portals for communicating system performance and surgical outcomes.
Craft and update software requirements specifications against which software is architected, implemented, and verified.
Perform software risk analysis to identify the need for software risk mitigations.
Ensure end-to-end traceability within our software documentation.
Perform and assist in software and system impact assessments for new software features.
Minimum of a bachelor’s degrees is required.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in software development and documentation.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience with connectivity related features including communication protocols, cybersecurity, data governance, and privacy standards.
Experience with medical device quality systems (ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 62304).
Experience authoring software requirements and establishing software traceability.
Experience performing software and cybersecurity risk analysis.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills is required for effective collaboration with multi-functional and multi-national team members.
Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or Systems Engineering.
Experience with cybersecurity testing of software including static analysis and penetration testing.
Ability to work effectively in an Agile environment.
Experience developing and defining graphical user interfaces.
Knowledge of relational databases.
Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
Location and Travel:
This position is in Boston, MA.
This position may require up to 10% domestic and international travel.
