Storage Engineer Senior

Department Description:This position is hybrid with some on-site work required in MA.

Information Technology (IT) has undertaken a multi-year effort to harmonize IT systems across Beth Israel Lahey Health. IT staff members may have the opportunity to participate in special projects that span Beth Israel Lahey Health as part of this harmonization effort. This position may be assigned to work on special projects, and other job duties, as needed.

Job Summary:The Sr. Storage Engineer position is focused on engineering, planning, and deployment of enterprise level projects, departmental projects, lifecycle replacement work supporting NAS, SAN, Block Arrays, cloud storage and data protection infrastructure. Participates in planning and implementation of polices and procedures to ensure storage provision, efficiency, and maintenance consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. This key contributor role will work as part of the storage team to support and maintain the storage and data protection technologies in their region. These services include but are not limited to FC switches, Network Switches, InfiniBand Switches, Block Storage arrays, NAS, Commvault, Rubrik, and AWS. Each region will assigned specific hospitals and remote offices to support.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Participates in and supports capacity planning and development of long-term strategic goals for data center storage in conjunction with data owners, department managers and team members.

  • Works with other IT infrastructure teams to implement storage architectures that utilize industry best practices.

  • implements redundant and highly available systems as well as policies and procedures for operational recovery, disaster recovery, and archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of storage devices and stored data assets.

  • Provide level 2 support/troubleshooting for all Storage Devices and Data Protection technologies

  • Performs tasks necessary to fulfill service level agreements with end-users regarding storage allocation, limitations, security and availability.

  • Acts as a resource for other application owners and IS teams to perform and test recovery procedures.

  • Provides engineering support to PACS and other imaging systems for short-term and long-term storage as well as data retention management. Serves as a technical liaison to storage vendors for technical issues, and to PACs/Imaging system support teams to report on storage consumptions, trending, hardware/storage infrastructure requirements, and coordinate planned maintenance/outages.

  • Anticipates, mitigates, identifies, responds to and resolves issues with storage devices, storage access, and data retrieval. Follows change control, incident response and testing processes for modifications to storage appliances and software.

  • Creating and maintaining storage and data protections systems documentation, including diagrams, policies, procedure, and standards. Perform change management and incident management for enterprise storage systems

  • Assist with other team regions as required. Travel to hospital and remote locations to resolve issues or perform project tasks

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, IT, or relevant field. required.

  • 5-8 years related work experience required in as a Systems Engineer at least 3 years as Storage Engineer.

  • Project Management

  • Experience with Unity, XtremIO, VMAX, PowerStore, Pure Storage, Isilon, Brocade, Cisco MDS, Windows, Linux, PowerPath, MPIO, VMware, AWS, Commvault, Rubrik, Veeam, Networker, DataDomain

  • SNIA certification, DellEMC Certification, SNIA certification, AWS certification, Commvault Certification, Rubrik Certified Systems Administrator, AWS certification, VMware Certification

  • Advanced technical computer skills as required for technical support specific to functional area and related systems.

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling objects. Sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally
