Join Takeda as a Strategy Implementation Lead where you will ensure organizational visibility of the key initiatives and workstreams of the long-term Pharmaceutical Sciences (PharmSci) Strategy, and cross-functional alignment for the activities.

Pharmaceutical Sciences (PharmSci) organization is an integral part of global R&D at Takeda translating science into therapeutic products for patients. We work as a member of Takeda's Global Program Team (GPT) and with partners such as Regulatory-CMC, Quality and Global Manufacturing & Supply (GMS), we take full ownership of Chemistry Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) activities, driving product development from bench to bedside.

As part of the Strategy and Business Excellence leadership team, you will report to the Head, Strategy and Business Excellence.

How you will contribute:

  • The main objectives for this role are to ensure the Pharm Sci Strategy: (1) achieves strategy intent, (2) delivers significant benefits to stakeholders, and (3) supports the long-term vision of the organization.

  • Furthermore, this role will ensure that all related activities are synchronized, implemented, monitored, and reported, including the creation and management of timelines, risk management plans, dashboards, and scorecards.

  • Lead a large-scale, Pharm Sci-wide transformation that incorporates proactive and innovative solutions to address strategic objectives, including leadership of the Transformation Management Office and all related activities.

  • Manage transformation roadmap and workstreams (sequencing, risks, issues, opportunities, resource plans, change management strategies, progress tracking, and budgets).

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and leadership at all levels to ensure successful assessment, execution, and sustainability of strategic initiatives.

  • Surface issues that require leadership attention or intervention.

  • Ensure effective stakeholder engagement and communication at all levels of the organization.

  • Ensure cross-functional/organizational alignment in the design, execution, and integration of strategic initiatives.

  • Develop a measurement system and/or tool to assess awareness, understanding, buy-in, and support of transformation and/or change management activities.

  • Develop feedback mechanisms at strategic touch points to facilitate open discussions of improvement opportunities and execution challenges (with a view to quickly implementing refinements or solutions).

  • Provide strategic advice and counsel leaders to ensure that all functional activities, tracking, and expectations are consistent with objectives.

  • Assist workstreams and workstream leads with skills in process and execution excellence, project management, facilitation, problem-solving, change management, and value creation.

  • Partner with functional counterparts to develop transformation training and communication strategies as well as specific curricula and content.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in science or business-related field required. Advanced science or business degree preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years of R&D or consulting experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Minimum 8 years of people management experience and/or leading global complex matrix teams.

  • Demonstrated experience in large-scale strategy implementation, workforce restructuring, outsourcing, mergers, or value capture initiatives; ideally with experience in M&A or integration.

  • Demonstrated experience and significant accountability for mission-critical deliverables (e.g., within the supply chain or plant operations, bioprocesses, CMC, formulation, quality or R&D operations).

  • Strong strategic and operational background with a track record of delivering results in a complex, global environment.

  • Detail-oriented but able to develop and drive an over-arching strategic plan/agenda.

  • Assertiveness to be comfortable leading organizational change with a great deal of compassion and empathy, and being firm about ways of working and commitments.

  • Ability to comprehend, organize and synthesize complex data, identify issues and trends, and develop and implement solutions to achieve multi-level objectives.

  • Ability to collaborate and influence effectively with various senior leaders, partners, regions, corporate divisions, and cultures

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage workload, reliably meet deadlines, and rapidly make decisions.

  • Strong business and financial acumen.

  • Aptitude for structured thinking.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills—including presentation and persuasive communication.

Base Salary Range: $143,500.00 to $205,000.00, based on candidate professional experience level. Employees may also be eligible for Short-term and Long-Term Incentive benefits as well. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days & Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program and Paid Volunteer Time Off.

The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
