Technical Project Manager (Salesforce)

OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the IT Portfolio Manager, the Technical Project Manager is responsible for all stages and types of IT initiatives from proposal and requirements definition to project planning and implementation. A major part of this position is to provide a proactive interface between the internal customers and the technical/programming staff to ensure effective definition, planning, and delivery of business applications.

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong business analysis, application design and project management skills. You will also be someone who is comfortable working with and across teams, communicating requirements, project and organizational change management, and business priorities.

The Technical Project Manager will also have the opportunity to interact with students as a mentor, group facilitator, and advocate, participating in building a positive educational environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Management

  • Lead and participate in the planning, design, development, and delivery of effective business applications

  • Define and document complex business requirements and processes

  • Lead design sessions and review sessions with technical and business staffs, including all levels of management

  • Develop a detailed project plan, in alignment with the established project management methodology, to monitor and track progress

  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification methodologies

  • Manage project risk through appropriate engagement of stakeholders and steering committee

  • Manage open decisions and project issues through documentation on a detailed log

  • Develop, review and assess vendor proposals

  • Manage multiple, parallel projects using formal project planning methodologies

  • Direct the activities of on-site and off-site consultants

  • Manage application design through the various lifecycle stages from business need through design and delivery

  • Establish and maintain customer relationships, interacting at the technical level, as required

  • Collaborate with developers, production support, and account teams to provide technical direction on systems analysis, design, development, testing and deployment

  • Ensure timely and effective delivery of the solution into production

  • Ensure effective handoff to operations for ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting

  • Ensure code reviews, software design sessions, and architectural reviews are conducted as needed

  • Participate in technical advisory roles, as required

  • Ensure all team members have clear goals and accountabilities, professional development opportunities and timely performance reviews

Site Team/Learning Community Member

  • Serve as a coach/mentor for a small number of current students

  • Join and sometimes facilitate weekly group sessions with students

  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 3-5 years+ experience in the workforce

  • 5 years' experience in business analysis or project management in a complex business and systems environment

  • Bachelor's degree; Advanced degree typical/preferred

  • Experience in Salesforce required; Salesforce certification preferred

  • Experience with large scale project management preferred

  • Experience with Financial Systems and/or Non-profit Development a plus

  • Vendor management and solution design experience required

  • Excellent decision making skills and the ability to work under continual deadline pressure

  • Excellent skills in presentation, communication and senior leadership engagements, including the ability to work effectively in a matrix organization

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10%
