Willis Towers Watson UI Engineer - All US locations in Boston, Massachusetts

The Benefits Delivery and Administration segment develops and delivers benefits administration experiences for employers of all sizes. Our product portfolio includes a wide array of technology and services that support employers in the administration of their employee benefit programs.

This position can be 100% remote

The Role

We’re a collaborative team of user experience designers and UI engineers. Our team shapes the creative and user experience vision for our benefits administration platforms. We aim to provide an inclusive benefit enrollment experience that’s easy to use and helps people make educated benefit choices. Benefits are complex, always changing, and different from region to region. They're also an essential part of most people's lives, which is why our work is so important. That's where you come in! We're hoping you'll join our UX team, and bring your passion for front-end development and desire to help people.

As a UI Engineer, you’ll:

  • Develop proof-of-concepts, and translate design artifacts into functional prototypes to support user research and sales demo activates

  • Develop configuration and management processes to support ongoing sales demonstrations

  • Enhance site interactions with meaningful animations

  • Create reusable front-end components and libraries

  • Document and maintain design systems with code and use examples

  • Work closely with product, UX and development team members to produce and maintain code

  • Advocate/coach best practices and agreed upon standards across your team and help to ensure adoption

  • Conduct accessibility and performance audits, and create resolution strategies

  • Must be a self-starter and comfortable assigning work-related tasks to your peers

The Requirements

We’re looking for someone who loves creative problem-solving. Innovation is encouraged, and you’ll have the opportunity to learn and recommend improvements as our product enters new markets. Strong communication skills are essential, as you are the liaison between our designers and developers. You should have experience and be willing to learn new things.

Our technical goal is to provide usable and performant apps. But we also want to make sure people understand and enroll in benefits that work well for them.

  • 2-5 years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining production software systems

  • Expert semantic HTML

  • A college degree, or professional certificate equivalent, in Computer Science/Engineering, Communication, Digital Media, or related program

  • Proficiency in front-end development technologies, demonstrable experience with JavaScript and Angular 5+, CSS/SCSS and working with and extending common UI frameworks and libraries is a must

  • Proficiency in responsive design patterns and practices

  • Competency in cross-browser and device testing and debugging

  • Competency in website accessibility and WCAG guidelines

  • Experience with assessing and coaching other team members on the quality of their contributions

  • Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language

  • Dedicated to quality and stakeholder satisfaction, persistent about achieving project goals

  • Interpersonal skills that demonstrate collaboration, facilitation, influencing and negotiating

  • A demonstrated willingness to understand and apply established coding style guidelines, prior to collaborating with colleagues to make future enhancements.

  • Familiarity with Agile software development

Compensation and benefits information for this position is being included in accordance with requirements of the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Please note that the salary range listed relate specifically to roles located in Colorado and that salary ranges for similar positions located in other Willis Towers Watson locations may vary. In addition, salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to individual competencies, education/professional certifications, experience and performance in the role.

Compensation

The hourly rate or salary compensation range being offered for this role is $80,000-120,000

This role is also eligible for an annual 10% bonus.
