What you'll do here:

The Web eCommerce Optimization Specialist manages and optimizes content for Cengage’s websites and eCommerce carts so as to provide most efficient and effective experience for our users. Reporting to the Senior Director of Web Strategy, you'll use tools including Optimizely and Validately to craft and execute experiments across Cengage.com and our other web properties to improve usage and conversion rate. You'll conduct qualitative and quantitative research to inform adjustments for messaging, user experience, and site personalization changes that will improve and simplify the process for visitors searching for and choosing our products. To be considered for this position, you should have extensive experience with consumer-facing online websites, along with a deep understanding of web analytics, user experience, site optimization and the drivers of conversion and retention. The perfect candidate for this role is technically fluent, consumer-centric and customer experience focused, with a passion for using data to find ideal solutions. S/he should be able to demonstrate flawless execution, with superior attention to detail, including in the use of testing and optimization tools. Ideally, will also have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced collaborative team environment, providing the most effective and efficient website experiences for our customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Together with the Senior Director of Web Strategy, you will develop and run short-term and long-term optimization plans for our web properties.

  • Administer a/b testing and other experiments for Cengage web sites with the focus on optimizing user experience and maximizing conversion rates.

  • Work closely with the analytics team to ensure site optimizations are data-driven and provide meaningful insights based on user trends.

  • Work with the Cengage product teams to better align the unauthenticated (visitor) and logged-in ecommerce experiences.

Skills you'll need:

  • Proficiency with Optimizely, Validately and heat mapping tools.

  • Proficiency with A/B testing and optimizing conversion funnels.

  • Proficiency with Google Analytics.

  • Strong analytical skills, ability to translate findings into meaningful UX recommendations, promoting alignment across teams and prioritizing and managing changes

  • Strong understanding of customer experience and its relationship with direct revenue generation.

  • Data-driven and proficient in analyzing website user flows

  • Self-motivated with exacting attention to detail, deadlines and reporting

  • Experience with eCommerce in the Education industry a plus.
