We are looking for a senior director to lead the FAST Labs Software & Systems Engineering organization. This highly visible, senior director level position responsible for all aspects of Software & Systems Engineering performance including the application of engineering processes and tools, talent acquisition, talent development and program performance. You will lead a large (130 ) organization through a digital transformation that embraces model-based engineering, DevSecOps and agile development and aligned with the direction of the overarching BAE Systems engineering organization.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

• Lead and grow a best-in-class team of software and systems engineers that deliver excellent results

• Cultivate engineering and operational excellence through best practices, agile practices, metrics and continuous learning

• Partner with the other business area leaders to ensure business objectives and strategy are achieved

• Attract, retain and grow senior managers and engineering talent to support the business

• Identify, maintain, and develop key skills required to meet business objectives in support of multi-year strategy.

• Develop and lead continuous improvement activities and ensure adoption within the organization.

• Establish goals and standards of performance, create budgets, staffing plans, and short and long-term strategic roadmaps/plans.

• Understand industry trends and best practices to ensure BAE Systems develops and maintains the capabilities required to provide technical discriminators.

• Provide technical leadership, leverage and apply modern SW and Systems development technologies (LLMs, Kubernetes, MBSE, Cloud computing, etc), and lead enterprise wide initiatives

• Perform duties as assigned to support shifting business dynamics

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• A Bachelor s Degree in engineering with a minimum of 12 years of engineering management experience.

• Active DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain a TS/SCI

• Proven track record of increasing responsibilities in managing organizations of significant complexities, including managing software development projects

• Strong technical background in software or systems engineerin

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Thorough knowledge of DoD R&D approaches and organizations

• Proven ability to lead a diverse organization across multiple sites

• Knowledge of and experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

• Proven ability to lead Agile, DevSecOps and digital transformation initiatives

• Active TS/SCI clearance

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $164000 - $278800

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
