Tufts Medicine IT Project Manager in Burlington, Massachusetts
Responsible for facilitating the implementation of Information Services projects according to business objectives. Primary responsibilities include initial assessment of scope, effort and resources, writing project charters, facilitating project initiation meetings, detailed project planning, managing execution of project tasks, monitoring progress and timelines, and project status and other communication.
Responsible for the principal leadership of the project team in terms of work assignment, timely completion of work, and utilization of project team members to accomplish customer expectations.
Manage resources to ensure successful completion of project deliverables.
Lead project status meetings and update project schedule on a weekly basis.
Manage project issues, assumptions and risks.
Anticipate, estimate, and manage project costs.
Work with business owner to maintain project budget tracking, including purchase requisitions, vendor quotations, and approval signatures for funding approval and purchase orders.
Prepare project plans and schedules , and may interact with outside vendors.
Motivate and monitor a team of analysts and specialists with varying levels of expertise.
Write documentation that may include project status reports, technical requirements and specifications, and testing, training and go-live plans.
May participate in troubleshooting project or technological conflicts and disruptions.
Supervise consultants, contractors, or other vendors related to the execution of project tasks.
Develop strong and positive rapport with key users and stakeholders based on project assignments.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Healthcare Management, or other related field.
8-10 years of experience with undergraduate degree or 6-8 years with graduate degree.
Demonstrated ability to lead small to medium sized project teams.
Strong customer-facing project management skills (ability to meet schedules and stay within budget, focus on customer satisfaction)
Strong administrative project management skills (maintaining project schedule, status reports, budget, compliance with project management methodology)
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to adjust communication style based on audience; from peers, to leadership team to hospital management and executives.
Ability to work with minimal direction and independently.
Ability to manage conflicts.
Project management certification (PMP or equivalent)
Knowledge of project management methodology
Knowledge of hospital information systems
Ability to prioritize and multitask to meet multiple deadlines
Experience using Microsoft Project or other project scheduling application
