The Principal Software Engineer with Azure experience leads a team of developers creating new speech recognition applications for dictation and transcription products. The candidate will have experience with Service Oriented Architecture and substantial knowledge of cloud computing (Azure, AWS) including deployment and monitoring. Hands-on development of new services and clients combined with evaluating and introducing new technology to the team will be the primary focus of the job. The successful candidate will explore the expansive AI and Speech technology of Nuance and create world-class solutions that take obstacles out of the way so customers can focus on what matters.

Principal duties and responsibilities: Create highly availability, high scale cloud service software served by REST APIs for mobile and browser usage

• Build out automated monitoring to ensure high availability of speech application services

• Design and develop web applications hosted in Azure

• Collaborate with Nuance Research Scientists to bring AI and ASR technology to market in industry-leading products

• Coordinate deployments with dedicated DevOps teams for efficient product rollout

• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to team members locally and off-shore

Qualifications:

Education: BS in computer science or related discipline; MS preferred

Minimum years of work experience: 10

Required skills:

• Extensive experience with C#, .NET Core, and ASP.NET

• 5+ years of Enterprise server development across all phases of S-SDLC

• Leadership role in driving all phases of product development

• Extensive experience developing, deploying, and monitoring products in the Cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure)

• Experience creating high availability, high scale cloud service architectures served by REST APIs for mobile and browser usage

• Experience coordinating deployments with dedicated SRE teams for efficient product rollout (Azure preferred)

• Experience with SQL Server or equivalent

• Secure Software Development Methodologies, especially in-depth knowledge of OWASP vulnerabilities

• Strong drive to modernize and improve engineering efficiency and reduce deployment times.

• Experience working with distributed teams (locally and off-shore) to provide technical guidance and leadership.

Preferred skills:

• Familiarity with mobile development platforms (Android or iOS)

• Familiarity with Application Insights

• Defining and implementing CI/CD pipelines

• Docker, Kubernetes, and other container technologies

• Microservice design patterns

• Knowledge of Agile SCRUM, Git and Atlassian Toolset

• Scripting skills with Python, Perl or similar
