The Program Manager will be the driving force behind our Healthcare Innovation Hub, responsible for overseeing the development and execution of innovation projects from ideation to implementation. This dynamic role requires a unique blend of strategic vision, operational excellence, and a passion for healthcare innovation. It is important to note that this is a pilot project with funding for two years, and if successful, we intend to create an institutional program, Innovation@Lahey, which will be fully supported by operational funds.

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

- Program Development and Management:

Design, implement, and manage innovative healthcare programs and projects.

Lead the strategic planning and execution of innovation projects within the Hub, ensuring alignment with our healthcare institution's goals and objectives.

Develop program goals, objectives, and timelines in alignment with the hospital's strategic plan.

Monitor and evaluate program performance, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

- Collaboration and Partnership:

Foster partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including clinicians, researchers, academic institutions, and industry partners.

Manage cross-functional teams comprising clinicians, researchers, technologists, and external partners to foster collaboration and drive project progress.

Engage with internal and external stakeholders to build partnerships, secure funding, and promote the Hub's initiatives.

Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure the successful implementation of innovation projects.

Represent the hospital at innovation-related events, conferences, and meetings.

- Project Management:

Lead project teams, providing guidance and support to ensure effective project execution.

Develop project plans, including resource allocation, budget management, and risk mitigation strategies.

Oversee the Hub's budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently and effectively to support innovation projects and operations.

Track project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as needed.

Monitor and report on project progress, challenges, and outcomes, making data-driven decisions to guide the Hub's strategic direction.

- Research and Analysis:

Conduct research and analysis to identify emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in healthcare innovation.

Evaluate the feasibility and impact of new ideas and solutions, providing recommendations to hospital leadership.

Prepare reports, presentations, and other documentation to communicate project status and outcomes.

- Compliance and Regulatory Knowledge:

Ensure that all innovation projects comply with relevant healthcare regulations, standards, and policies.

Stay up-to-date with changes in healthcare regulations and ensure the hospital's innovation activities are aligned with these changes.

Work with legal and compliance teams to manage regulatory approvals and maintain project documentation.

- Intellectual Property and Patent Management:

Identify opportunities for intellectual property (IP) creation and manage the patent process for innovations.

Work with legal teams to secure and protect IP rights.

Monitor and manage the hospital’s IP portfolio, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with IP laws.

- Communication and Training:

Develop and deliver training programs and workshops to promote a culture of innovation within the hospital.

Communicate program goals, progress, and outcomes to stakeholders through various channels.

Create marketing and promotional materials to highlight the hospital's innovation initiatives.

Foster a culture of innovation within the healthcare institution, including organizing workshops, seminars, and engagement activities.

- Financial Management:

Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring effective use of resources.

Identify and secure funding opportunities, including grants and partnerships, to support innovation projects.

Monitor financial performance and prepare financial reports as required.

- Organizational Requirements:

Maintains strict adherence to the Lahey Clinic Confidentiality Policy.

Incorporates Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles, Mission Statement and Goals into daily activities.

Complies with all Lahey Clinic Policies; complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Clinic.

Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Health or related field; Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience: 5-8 years of experience in program management, preferably within healthcare, technology, or innovation sectors.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Strong influencing, motivating and empathy skills, including ability to manage change and build consensus among all levels of the organization, including senior leaders

  • Training in Lean Six Sigma or similar training

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare systems, clinical practices, and emerging healthcare technologies.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary projects and teams.

  • Strong understanding of the healthcare industry, including regulatory and compliance environments.

  • Knowledge of healthcare compliance and regulatory requirements.

  • Understanding of intellectual property and patent processes.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Proven track record of strategic planning and execution, with the ability to drive projects from concept to completion.

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, solve complex problems, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Computer literacy (e.g. Microsoft Office 365 applications, Teams, Workday)
