Oracle Software Developer 5 in Burlington, Massachusetts

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Provide leadership and expertise in the development of new products/services/processes, frequently operating at the leading edge of technology. Recommends and justifies major changes to existing products/services/processes. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 or more years of software engineering or related experience.

This is a remote/office based position which may be performed anywhere in the United States except for within the state of Colorado.

Oracle Databasesupports most demanding mission-critical customer requirements, operating at global scale to provide a secure, distributed, multi-tenant data platform for structured as well as unstructured data.

In this role, you will be responsible for conceiving and developing new features for hyperscale globally distributed converged database capabilities to store structured and unstructured data.

You will be working with customers who need a high volume, high velocity, high variety data platforms as well as have data sovereignty/residency requirements.

As a member of the product development team, you will identify customer requirements, do competitive/market analysis, set product direction and define specifications.

You will lead and coordinate efforts between cross-functional teams to develop best-in-class capabilities. You will be expected to assess appropriate trade-offs to optimize customer experience, time-to-market, and to clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal stakeholders and remote teams.

The right candidate will possess a strong *Product Management *background, an ability to work backwards from the customers and will have experience launching multiple customer-facing products and features. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. Maturity, strong business judgment, a customer-centric mindset, negotiation skills, ability to influence and analytical talent are essential to succeed in this role.

*Key Responsibilities: *

  • Define and prioritize product features and functions

  • Drive operational and technical solution development to support implementation of desired features and functions

  • Develop business requirements and user stories to provide design and development direction to Dev teams

  • Collaborate with Dev, QA and documentations teams to iterate and refine designs

  • Define, measure and manage customer experience and business performance metrics for stakeholders

  • Proactively identify and resolve risks and issues that may dent team’s ability to execute

  • Work with customers, partners, sales, support teams to ensure successful product adoption by customers

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline

  • 10 years of experience as hands-on product manager for customer facing product

  • Attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously

  • Ability to think both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast paced environment

  • Big Data platform experience with structured and unstructured data

  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases

  • Experience with Massively Parallel Processing systems

  • Experience with technologies like high availability, backup/recovery, disaster/recovery

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA

  • Experience in Internet scale applications

  • Experience in designing and launching cloud products

  • Experience with Application integration technologies like process orchestration, workflow, API gateways, service bus
