We are looking for a technical senior people manager to lead a motivated, collaborative team of top-notch technical talent to release, maintain, and support our customers. The Oracle Health and Sciences Business Unit (HSGBU) is the leading provider of integrated data collection and data management solutions for clinical trials and drug safety. The InForm Suite of applications is a comprehensive, integrated, open standards-based data capture and management platform.

InForm Suite is a set of web and client/server applications written in C#, C /COM, ASP.NET hosted in the Oracle Cloud. Customers interact with a front end written in HTML, Javascript, JQuery and ASP.Net. Advanced Business Analytics are powered by Cognos BI with an Oracle DB as a back end. InForm Suite is offered as a SaaS in the Oracle Cloud or as on-prem installation.

As Senior Manager you will own the execution of software design and development for significant components of InForm. You should have technical depth, architectural know-how, cloud software delivery, strong people and process management skills and an ability to dive deep into the projects you manage. You should be passionate about adding customer value, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a high-performance engineering team

  • Own your solution from design through implementation to ongoing operations in the Oracle Cloud

  • Create effective project plans with product leadership and your technical team

  • Manage customer escalations

  • Build relationships with cross-functional team leads to drive effective integrations and escalations

  • Identify, recruit and retain top software engineering talent

Desired Skills and Experience

  • 5 years experience in software development

  • 2 years of experience delivering and operating large-scale, highly-available systems

  • 3 years experience leading engineering teams

  • BS in Computer Science or a related technical field

  • Demonstrated expertise in delivering large software releases on time and on budget

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise manner to all audiences including senior leadership

  • Results driven; thrives in a development environment that is agile, collaborative, and in start-up mode, even when faced with ambiguity and competing priorities

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and recruit very strong engineering talent

Desired technical skills

  • Experience with C , .NET, C#, ASP.Net, web services,

  • Multi-thread applications, and cross-process communication

  • Experience n-tier application design and architecture experience

  • Experience with complex SQL

  • Experience with Service Oriented Architecture

  • Experience designing software for a highly-regulated industry such as life sciences or healthcare

  • Experience writing design documents and functional specs

  • COM, Distributed Transactions

  • Agile development experience

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.

Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
