Microsoft Services is looking for a “Data Scientist, Office of the CTO, Data & AI Domain ” who has a mix of advanced technology, customer and strategic business acumen. This role requires the ability to chartered to lead the analytic journey for complex customer programs, deliver using the latest technology, and create an effective and collaborative community of Data Scientists in Microsoft Services. The role is responsible for supporting the Data & AI delivery organization by driving global strategies, predictability, repeatability, consistency, readiness and quality.

We collaborate within the team of information architects, business architects and data scientists. We collaborate across Microsoft with delivery consultants, sales teams, product teams, and Microsoft research.

Ways to have impact in this role:
Data & AI Strategy, Architecture and Data Science:
Lead worldwide strategies for Artificial Intelligence and hybrid cloud data platform technologies by innovating and incubating emerging technologies from the Microsoft engineering teams to real world repeatable customer solutions.
Identifying market solutions, gaps and best practices worldwide and developing a unified, modern portfolio of solutions joining Microsoft strategy and customer success
Supporting and advising selling and engagement teams to follow a consistent data science methodology, approach and technical strategy for the Microsoft Data & AI space.
Monitoring engagements for data science pattern reuse, methodology and algorithm improvement, risk reduction and quality.
Become SMEs with technical experience and knowledge of the Microsoft Azure AI and Data Platform including SQL Server, Azure SQL, DataBricks, CosmosDB, Business Intelligence, Advanced Analytics, Machine Learning, Cognitive Services, IOT and PowerBI across all solution scenarios and industries.
Data Science and Professional Services Leadership:
An ability to quickly gain customer confidence and trust while competing for market share of the Microsoft platform and Microsoft Services as a trusted advisor
Demonstrated excellence at presenting complex technical and business topics to both executive and technical personnel
An ability to articulate differences between data science solution methods and the challenges and approaches to integrating solutions built on different platforms including a working knowledge of different patterns and techniques that may be used by our customers. Confidence to make recommendations and support them.
3+ years of technology consulting experience
5+ Years of Data Science experience in an academic research or corporate capacity
Masters’ degree or above in ML, Mathematics or Statistics or a related quantitative application. We find people with applied experience in a field with very large and complex data sets such as Biology, Physics, or Social Sciences do well.
Strong experience with Data and Artificial Intelligence technologies – Microsoft or other.
Experience in advanced analytics, machine learning and complementary data platforms
Experience with at least one of the ML related technologies: SAS, SPSS, RevR, Azure ML, MapR, etc.
Working knowledge of emerging domains such as CNTK, TensorFlow, deep learning, and/or distributed analytics at the edge.
Experience in data preparation with industry standard tools such as R and Python and with Visualization tools such as SAP, QlikView, PowerBI, etc.
Languages – one or more: R, Java, Python, F#, C#
Analytical tools, languages, or libraries, one or more: SAS, SPSS, R, Mahout, etc.
Demonstrated leadership in operationalizing and continuous deployment workflow and methodology supporting the need to move systems into production and support.
Demonstrated leadership in mentoring and training other Data Scientists
Demonstrated track record of effective communication with technical and business leaders at all levels and across the organizations (business, products, sales, etc.) within large enterprises
Exceptional demonstrated professional services and architecture skills
A Ph.D. is strongly preferred.
Advanced technical solution selling and customer skills
Track record of collaboration and working on virtual and matrixed teams.
Understanding of Agile methodologies, with full delivery lifecycle experience from pre-sales to support/operations on complex projects
Proven ability to transfer industry and market knowledge to new market opportunities and strategies.
Global experience across several markets preferred; specific experience in applicable time zone
Location/Travel – You may be based anywhere in the United States, near a major international airport. Travel is an integral part of this position. Travel can be as high as 50% as is demanded by the needs of our customers and our business.
