  • Strong preference for two (2) or more years of experience managing direct reports or leading project teams.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with an ability to facilitate discussion to ensure complete understanding of project needs.

  • Familiarity with relational databases, Oracle, and SQL as well as standard Microsoft Office desktop tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project

  • Familiar with best practices related to the software development life cycle

  • Must have an even disposition and be able to deal effectively and politely with all people from all types of backgrounds and experience and in all types of situations.

  • This position is privy to sensitive and confidential information. Must be conscious of data security and risk management.

  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate problems accurately and display sound judgment.

  • Ability to work within a team-oriented environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Must have a strong work ethic and be collaborative, conscientious, and results-oriented.

Additional Information:This position requires a 3 month orientation and review period.

Position Description: Service Delivery

  • Leads a team of business systems analysts that collaborates with AA&D departments across the University to identify, implement, and support enterprise level technology solutions that facilitate alumni engagement, e-commerce, and volunteer activities.

  • Deliver customer focused service in the areas of business requirements/solutions development, application development, production systems support, and end user support via applications including but not limited to Alumni.Harvard Community, Alumni Magnet, Give Campus, online giving, and data integrations.

  • Ensure key departmental procedures, organizational policies and practices are documented and distributed. Create and maintain a repository of team business processes and application documentation

  • Become proficient on the applications supported by this team in order to participate in all aspects of production support and new projects implementation. Review/update specifications, write and execute test plans, and collaborate with developers and the training team. Review and approve QA documentation. Perform work within a set release schedule and in adherence with audit standards.

  • Collaborate with downstream partners to communicate changes to our systems and assess the impact to their applications

  • Gather and document functional requirements and translate requirements into technical solutions that support business priorities and provide a high-quality user experience

  • Provide end user support including troubleshooting issues on an advanced level, engaging assistance from Advancement Solutions and other departments where appropriate

  • Provide support during project go-lives, which may include occasional evening or weekend work.

    Strategy & Planning

  • Responsible for planning projects, defining scope, articulating business value, and communicating with stakeholders regarding status of projects. May use both agile and waterfall methods

  • Lead collaboration with the Talent Management team on the strategy for communications related to the products that this team supports

  • Lead projects to pilot new technologies and features. Make recommendations based on learnings

  • Participate in the intake of support and enhancement requests. Collaborate with leadership on the prioritization of requests and how this prioritization maps to software releases

  • Collaborate with Advancement Solutions partners to ensure a holistic approach to projects that evaluates and articulates the technical impact and business value of changes across systems, integrations, processes, data, and functionality


  • Actively work with Advancement Solutions leadership to assess impact, articulate scope and business value, and prioritize resource allocation for project requests

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on vendor-led focus groups as well internal working groups

  • Offer subject matter expertise, troubleshoot the most complex issues, participate in release management processes, and contribute to the continuous refinement of processes that improve the overall quality of the team’s software and identify and incorporate best practices

    Team Management & Development

  • Manage a team of 2 or more business analysts to create and sustain a high performing, innovative, customer-service oriented operation

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and support to direct reports including recruiting, training, and conducting performance management

  • Collaborate with the Senior Director on staff career development and succession planning

  • Utilize management approaches that prioritize diversity equity, inclusion and belonging

  • Establish practices that ensure staff accountability, clearly defined goals, and metrics by which to measure success
