This role of Director, Portfolio and Value Realization is pivotal to accelerate the digital transformation within Industry Solutions. This role, as a member of the Modern Experiences, Platforms and Analytics (MXPA) Leadership Team, will play a key role to help influence, support, and drive the organization’s vision, mission, and the digital transformation journey.
The MXPA team, a shared services organization supports the Industry Solutions division. About the role – Director, Portfolio & Value Realization
You will be a highly motivated person who can solve complex business problems, prioritize, and setup scalable programmatic infrastructure for large scale initiatives. You will work across multiple teams, must have the ability to think strategically at a global level, and effectively develop key processes that drive fastest path to adoption of processes, systems, and insights changes. It’s also important for you to work successfully in a team environment, build effective working relationships inside and outside group, and accommodate the working styles of our diverse team.
You will need to be comfortable engaging with senior leaders and managing priorities in a fast-paced, complex matrix environment. You will need to be programmatic in end-to-end planning and execution. This role calls for a balance of collaborative leadership and influential skills across the team and beyond, in addition to supportive individual contributions. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Collaborate with senior leadership, project teams, stakeholders, and partner teams to create short-, mid- and long-term portfolio management plans that align to the digital strategy & roadmap.
Document OKRs, KRs and ROI of prioritized work how impact will be measured through value realization framework.
Collaborate with teams to look across multiple strategic programs to ensure we have a portfolio management and governance process to accelerate and drive decision making and prioritization.
Lead the PMO infrastructure and own maintaining an agreed Plan of Record (POR) and Roadmap with critical paths, milestones, and dependencies.
Lead the team that is accountable for portfolio management, business management, financials, people/talent rhythms and communications functions for a large and globally distributed team.
Participate in overall strategy formulation, building discrete roadmaps for capabilities and driving cutting across workstreams to execute on them, collaborating with the leadership team in the process. Facilitate business planning and execution.
Represent the MXPA Organization, strategy, initiatives in various leadership forums. Support and prepare the org leader in managing the business by preparing content for keynotes, presentations, meetings, etc.
Lead planning and execution of ROB, including business reviews, leadership team meetings, and off-sites.
Anticipate needs of the business and influence for needed outcomes to maintain pace with the business.
Documentation and communication of deferred items, decisions made, workarounds, and help for comms/training teams as applicable.
Establish a data-driven approach to baseline adoption and elevate the same over a period of time.
7+ years of experience in Business Consulting, leading large programs, or a business function within a professional services space
Passion for data & insights, with demonstrated history of innovative thinking and problem-solving skills
Strong experience in managing relationships with business leaders and executives, leading complex portfolio of engagements, rhythm of business and enabling leaders to make data-driven decisions. Ability to engage with senior leaders and align as well as challenge their thinking
Strong business acumen across a professional services organization. Broad business acumen with the ability to translate abstract thoughts into understandable messages for wider consumption
Ability to mobilize several cross-functional teams and drive multiple programs and workstreams towards a unifying set of objectives
Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly the ability to synthesize complex issues/scenarios into easy-to-understand concepts
Strong knowledge of program, process, and change management techniques; structured approaches to problem solving, decision making, and business strategy
Ability to act as a liaison between business stakeholders and subject matter experts. Able to deal with ambiguity: can effectively cope with change; can shift gears comfortably; can decide and act without having the total picture; can comfortably handle risk and uncertainty. Exceptional influence without authority and excellent collaboration skills
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Information Systems, Business Administration or closely related field, MBA or advanced degree preferred
VIP - Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Location/Travel: You may be based anywhere in the United States. You can expect limited global travel, 0 – 25%, contingent upon Covid-19 restrictions.

The salary for this role in the state of Colorado is between $144,600 and $236,300.
At Microsoft, certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
