The IT Financial Management & Business Operations team is an integral part of the Information Technology (IT) department, as we support Harvard Business School's (HBS) mission to educate leaders who make a difference in the world.

The Director, Technology Vendor Management reports to the Senior Director, IT Financial Management & Business Operations and is a member of the IT Business Operations team. They will establish a technology vendor management function for a financial portfolio of $80M. The Director is responsible for developing and implementing a vendor management strategy and operational model to maximize value and minimize risk with the department’s critical vendors. They will work with IT leaders and key partners at HBS and Havard University to leverage best practices and processes in the areas of contract management and negotiation.

The ideal candidate will be an energetic quick learner who possesses superior communication skills, has significant experience with procurement and vendor management and shows maturity, accountability, and professionalism throughout their work efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop HBS’s first comprehensive, end-to-end technology vendor management strategy, collaborating with IT leaders and stakeholders from technology-centered portfolios

  • Lead and implement the creation of vendor management policies and processes across IT department, Strategic Procurement and key IT partners

  • Define a structure of vendor classification, focusing on maximining performance of critical vendors

  • Develop a vendor performance system, leading monthly reviews with IT leaders and stakeholders

  • Lead business alignment meetings with critical vendors, serving as a point of escalation for critical issues

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for vendor management for the department

  • Manage two or more staff members including hiring, onboarding, training, and professional development, coaching, and performance management

  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned
