The Autonomy, Guidance, and Control Systems Software Division Leader will be responsible for the organizational leadership and line management of approximately 100 employees. The division resides within the Algorithms and Software Directorate in the Engineering Organization. Key technical capabilities of this Division are:
Guidance and control algorithms and software
GN&C mission design
Automation and autonomous system software
Resource planning and task allocation
Complex dynamic system modeling and simulation
Model-based software development
These capabilities are used to provide solutions for our customers in application areas involving spacecraft and launch vehicle systems, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), robotic ground vehicles, maritime systems including unmanned undersea vehicles, guided projectile and missile systems, and complex mission management systems. Specific Division Leader responsibilities will include:
Organizational leadership including the development and maturation of the division's technical capabilities and discriminating technologies
Career development of the future leaders of the organization through mentoring, growth assignments, professional seminars, and other educational opportunities
Business development technical support for project development and advancement of key technical capabilities in the division
Management of staff hiring and recruiting
The development of the division's strategic plan
Oversight of the quality of execution of projects led by division staff
M.S. or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
10+ years of relevant experience in the leadership of Autonomy, Guidance, and Control as defined in the Responsibilities section.
Substantial prior organizational leadership experience and demonstrated success in managing a group or team of people (20+) as a project leader, technical director, or line manager.
Must be performance driven, a self-starter and have demonstrated consistently outstanding performance in his/her career.
The ability to work within a team environment is a must.
Strong contacts with government or commercial sponsors in the division’s domain areas are desired.
