Philips Embedded Software and FPGA Development Engineer in Cambridge, Massachusetts


In this role, you have the opportunity to

Develop Embedded Systems and FPGA Ultrasound technology to support the Philips Ultrasound Platform Development team

You are responsible for

  • Participate in development of Embedded Software and/or FPGA firmware for the ultrasound imaging systems

  • Develop software/firmware requirements, specifications, test plans and other supporting documentation

  • Develop detailed software/firmware designs from concept through implementation and verification

  • Participate in design reviews

  • Provide lifecycle design support

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

Professional Knowledge

  • Understanding of the system development processes

  • Proven experience with complex FPGA designs using Xilinx and/or Altera parts and toolchains

  • Experience with embedded processors, DDRx and USB interfaces

  • Experience with PCIe protocol, standard and custom high-speed serial interfaces

  • Advanced knowledge of verification technologies and tools

  • Familiarity with hands-on debugging tools and techniques

  • Knowledge of digital signal processing is a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with CUDA and/or OpenCL

  • Experience with profiling and optimizing GPU code for performance

  • Experience with developing, profiling and optimizing GPU kernels for performance

Job Requirements:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent

  • Minimum 3 years Software and/or FPGA development experience, which may include internship and/or co-op experience

  • Knowledge of and/or experience with object-oriented programming languages (e.g. C++), design and coding

  • Knowledge of software and/or FPGA development lifecycle

  • Familiarity with embedded system development a plus

  • Windows drivers experience is a plus

  • Self-motivated individual with good organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to analyze and solve complex system level problems

  • Ability to effectively multi-task, managing multiple projects concurrently

  • Proven experience working with vendors, suppliers and contract manufacturers

  • Strong desire to learn and adapt to new technologies and challenges

  • Knowledge or DSP principles and technologies is highly desirable
