Oracle Field Support Specialist 4 in Cambridge, Massachusetts

Responsible for providing the first line of on-site field system support that includes hardware, software, software applications, and networking to customers and field personnel on-site at customers or remotely.

Provides a high level of customer satisfaction through the effective delivery of technical support and service programs. Customer support specifications may include product performance / maintenance, product installation, project management, site planning and professional services. Pro-actively coordinates resources, problem resolution, problem escalation, and the use of system level diagnostics. Understands service processes and options that are linked with the customers specifications. Able to identify and solve a wide range of problems. Needs a 24-hour commitment to support customer specifications which may also be fulfilled by participation in the regional standby rotation. Works primarily at customer sites.

Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. 8 years relevant work experience. BS/BA preferred.

Primarytasks are to provide support of key US Department of Defense customer and othercritical SuperCluster/Engineered System accounts supported by Advanced CustomerServices (ACS).

Candidate will providesupport to the DoD customer and their Mission Partners on the management, patching,reporting and capacity planning of Engineered Systems within the DoDenvironment.

Duties will include respondingto requirements and needs from the Customer and/or the Mission Partners.Quarterly patching of the one of the largest SuperCluster environments in theworld. The team also acts as a clearing house for Oracle issues outside of theSuperCluster environment this can include gathering information,supporting/escalation of Oracle SR s and working jointly with the Customer andMission Partners to help resolve issues.

Candidate must have thefollowing essential requirements:

o Be a US Citizen and becapable of obtaining DoD clearances

Current or previous DoDclearances is an asset

o Have solid understandingof Solaris 11, including Solaris Zones and Oracle VM for SPARC (aka LDoms)

Solaris 11 Certificationis an asset

o Have a solidunderstanding of networking

Exposure to Infinibandis an asset

o Have excellent writtenand oral communication skills

o Have a solid understandingof Change Management processes in a complex environment (Dev, Test,Production, Disaster Recovery)

o Able to perform pagerduty (i.e. available 7x24 for one week on a periodic basis shared on arotational basis by all members of the team)

o Must be able to work independentlyand also function as an integrated member a geographically dispersed team

o Minimum of ten (10)years prior experience

University degree inrelevant expertise area preferred but not essential

In additional to the key requirements, thesuccessful candidate must provide skills/expertise in at least one of thefollowing areas:

o Database Administration

-{PS..0}-> Thorough understandingof Oracle 11i/12 database setup/ maintenance and Real Application Clusters(RAC)

Exposure to ExadataServers (Exadata Database and/or SuperCluster)

Patching of complexdatabase environments

o Monitoring/Managementtools

Have a firmunderstanding of Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and associated management tools (OpsCenter, various OEM plug-ins)

Experience/understandingof other management tools/frameworks is an asset

o ZFS Configuration andAdministration

Installation andconfiguration of large ZFS environments

Backup via Infiniband(particularly databases)

NAS configuration,including integration with Active Directory

The following are usefulancillary skills that would be of benefit to the position:

o Experience with Linux(Red Hat Enterprise and/or Oracle Linux)

o Experience with SolarisCluster or other Clustering software

o Experience with Ciscoswitch administration

While periodic travel is required to meet withDISA and Mission Partners, most work 75% or more should be able to beperformed remotely once clearances and gov't laptop are obtained.

Must be able to engagewith supporting teams Support Services, Product Management, Engineering,Hardware and Tech License sales teams outside of ACS.
