Bachelor's degree in design or computer science preferred
Excellent critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, and an ability to adapt to the rapidly changing technologies inherent in web development.
Familiarity with Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, and web marketing principles
Extensive experience with hand-coded HTML/CSS and strong commitment to web standards.
Experience designing for human factors and UX
Experience with source control systems (particularly git) a plus.
Ability to conceptualize and articulate ideas for new or enhanced designs and interactive capabilities, and to communicate and collaborate effectively with a team to carry them out.
Must be well organized, detail oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment with high standards for quality and accuracy.
The Division of Continuing Education (DCE) comprises several entities serving about 30,000 students annually. The Harvard Extension School, the Harvard Summer School, the Harvard Professional Development Programs and the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement allow Harvard to serve the learning needs of students across their life. For more than a century, Harvard Extension School has made Harvard faculty and teaching accessible to a diverse community of local, national, and international students. Harvard Extension School enrolls approximately 16,000 students per year in approximately 46 graduate and undergraduate liberal arts and professional fields. More than 1,500 open enrollment courses are offered year-round with over 600 available online are offered at affordable prices to our communities across the world. Join a small team of designers, developers, editors, and marketing specialists to help design and build high-quality websites for Harvard's Division of Continuing Education. Our team creates the public-facing marketing websites for Harvard Extension School, Harvard Summer School, Harvard Professional Development, and other programs within the division. You will have an opportunity to demonstrate your excellent web design and development skills on high-profile, high-traffic projects. Working closely with the project lead and stakeholders, you will develop and maintain complex, high-quality, high-visibility websites. As part of the web team, handles requests for site changes using a wide variety of web technologies
Design, develop, test, and maintain DCE websites using standard conventions and best-practices
Work with third-party designers to render concepts and prototypes into functional web pages
Styling of views, panels, templates and pages in WordPress, HubSpot, Drupal
Source, create, and maintain assets for websites such as illustrations, photographs, logos, infographics
Advise team about best-practices for UX, site-flow. Conduct usability and UX testing
Typography implementation for sites
Monitor adherence to visual style guide and accessibility standards
Stay current with standards and laws regarding web usability, design, coding, CSS, scripting languages, browser compatibility, and accessibility issues
Learn new skills as needed
Manage Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager installation and tracking for all projects within DCE
