FULL STACK DEVELOPER, Media Lab-Poetic Justice (https://www.media.mit.edu/groups/poetic-justice/overview/) , to join a group exploring new forms of social justice through art and work on a series of participatory public artworks. The group has been collecting sound and video recordings from around the world and remixing them into sound and video works, including A Counting (https://www.google.com/url?q=http://a-counting.us&sa=D&source=editors&ust=1624419189630000&usg=AOvVaw2Rc4DHUSz8mlVsJHWWiLzh) and Freedom Radio (https://www.google.com/url?q=http://freedom.radio/&sa=D&source=editors&ust=1624419189631000&usg=AOvVaw3gKFly7fqneYb7x98JsL6U) . Responsibilities include developing interactive voice response (IVR) systems using Twilio and Vonage; developing scalable systems to record, store, and manage audio and video recordings; developing scalable systems to transcribe audio and video recordings in multiple languages/formats; analyzing transcripts and and generating stories using transcripts; developing scalable tools for narrative generation; and developing dashboards and reports for user engagement, topic generation, and content summarization. REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in computer science or related field; at least three years’ experience with web development/architecture and modern DevOps tools (e.g., Git, GitHub); at least two years’ experience with Python using Flask or Django and with third-party APIs within Python web applications; and ability to work creatively and analytically, communicate clearly and concisely in both technical and non-technical language, collaborate and pair-program effectively, and work independently. PREFERRED: experience with the following: installation, configuration, and development, including work within a production environment; DevOps and Agile engineering practices; deploying systems into a production cloud native environment with major cloud providers (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform); NLP libraries (e.g., Spacy, Hugging Face, NLTK); web application design and development using React or Angular; voice application design and development using Twilio or Vonage; and Twitter and Slack bot development.
