Sanofi Group Head of Portfolio Management, Digital Health Solutions, North America in Cambridge, Massachusetts


Within the General Medicines GBU, the Digital Health Solution team’s vision is to drive improved healthcare outcomes by becoming a key player in the emerging Digital Health sector with a specific focus on population health.


  • Actively identify & evaluate technology assets (both internal & external) which can meet product design features prioritized by the US VHC Squad, ensuring adoption by teams where relevant

  • Coordinate the iterative digital health expansion efforts, working with relevant Workstreams in their Sprints as launched by the US Squad to translate strategic goals to operational features against clearly defined milestones

  • Project Manage select critical, complex &/or large scale project elements, ensuring the productive collaboration of internal (&, where relevant, external) teams to set milestones / KPIs – including partnership marketing & geo-expansion


The Head of Portfolio Management for Digital Health Solutions is a pivotal leadership role, which is focused on identifying new areas of growth, and catapulting our franchise efforts through translation of these opportunities to disciplined operational focus. The role is critical in accelerating Sanofi General Medicine’s mission of reversing the course of chronic diseases by establishing leadership in the emerging virtual healthcare (VHC) space through the integration of healthcare and technology, holistically empowering patients to improve outcomes.

The Head of Portfolio Management will need to effective in multiple domains –

  • Agile methodology

  • Entrepreneurial business strategy

  • Digital health / data innovation

  • Financial engineering to establish B2B partnerships necessary to succeed in this space

  • Broad geographic familiarity, to assist with geo-expansion strategies to take the US business model to new countries

Key Responsibilities

1. Agile Leadership

  • Establish disciplined agile methodology across local & global team members working in the US Squad

  • Build strong connections across all members with focused delivery on rapidly evolving agile priorities,

  • Propose and/or disrupt practices to improve efficiency or effectiveness

  • Effectively share and communicate performance with internal and external stakeholders

  • Coach and welcome coaching with and from various functional teams and individual contributors.

2. Entrepreneurial business strategy

  • Remain abreast of evolving externalities, such as competitive dynamics, market consolidations, legal/regulatory changes in the digital health sector

  • Leverage deep familiarity of the US healthcare systems, to inform strategic choices of the US Squad

  • Play a key role in partner company outreach & evaluation, including by identify sources of opportunity & risks in the partnership and commercial operations

  • Beyond any initial digital health entry partnership, ensure robust & ongoing evaluation of companies to ensure Sanofi’s efforts define next-gen advances in digital health

  • Build commercial (GTM) and long-term (Growth) strategies to futureproof Sanofi’s leadership in VHC and payer customers in the US

  • Upon execution, take on key coordinating functions to ensure productivity in our prioritized commercial partnership(s)

3. D igital health & data science innovator

  • Lead efforts to define & size opportunities to expand our digital health ambition through the purposeful adoption of data & analytic strategies; these strategies should build on deep insights of the value- pools that have been identified in population health digital health assessments

  • Innovation should include exploring business models around integration into EMR/EDW systems, seamless connectivity with patient-facing peripheral devices, and predictive analytics enabling patients &/or physicians to transform clinical outcomes

4. Financial engineering

  • Build financial model that best capture our complex, multi-party efforts and dynamic market place

  • Engineer investment approaches to maximize our financial success and de-risk optimally.

  • Effectively communicate financial implications of investment choices (eg, equity, equity derivatives, convertibles) and key externalities, and drive internal investment decisions

  • Collaborate with various finance, accounting, transactions and FP&A teams in the US and globally to ensure securing of resources and budget to operate and grow

5. Geographic Expansion

  • While the first focus of Digital Health Solution efforts will be on the US market, it is equally clear that expansion to other countries needs to be evaluated & likely pursued as our ambitions continue

  • Leverage knowledge of the health systems in major non-US markets, & connection to overseas teams to evaluate & ultimately globalize profitable digital health business models


  • Familiarity with digital / Virtual Healthcare Care market & dynamics

  • Healthcare & technology product development experience

  • Project management experience

Education and Work Experience

  • Master’s degree in healthcare research or life science, plus MBA or CFA

  • 10 years professional experience in industry & / or management consulting

  • Digital health product development

  • Leadership experience
