PROGRAM MANAGER, MIT-IBM WATSON AI LAB, Schwarzman College of Computing-MIT Quest for Intelligence, to coordinate MIT’s participation in the collaboration with IBM which created the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab, a ten-year, $240 million program under the MIT Quest for Intelligence. The lab carries out fundamental artificial intelligence (AI) research and seeks to propel scientific breakthroughs that unlock the potential of AI. Will directly support the MIT director by acting as the primary point of contact for MIT for all matters related to the lab and implementing the MIT-IBM Research Collaboration Agreement, manage MIT’s obligations under the associated membership program, and prepare MIT’s reports on the lab’s activities. The work will involve extensive relationship-building between IBM, the corporate members affiliated with the lab, the MIT faculty and IBM researchers of the lab, and the many departments and labs across MIT, including the Office of Strategic Alliances and Technology Transfer and Research Administration Services.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in a related field; at least five years’ relevant program management experience in industry/university/nonprofit sectors; demonstrated expertise communicating effectively with senior industry leadership; and proven ability to present complex technical information in sales, service, or government contexts. PREFERRED: MBA and/or master’s/Ph.D. in a technical discipline; direct experience in academic research sponsored programs, including understanding of sponsor interactions related to research or education missions; demonstrated expertise communicating government compliance requirements to industry audiences; and MIT experience.
