The system architect will work across Draper’s program and engineering organizations to conceptualize and develop novel Position, Navigation & Timing (PNT) technology. The position will be a technical leader for Draper’s strategy to engage sponsors, frame solutions, execute programs and transition technology that furthers the state of the art in Assured-PNT. A successful candidate will be a self-starting, strategic thinker with experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and complex technical programs.
M.S. in Engineering, Mathematics or Physics and 15+ years (10+ with Ph.D.) experience in the development of advanced technology for national security applications.
A current understanding of the DOD’s challenges, and solutions to, operating in contested environments without GPS.
Ability to create and present executive level documents and presentations to communicate holistic solutions to existing and future DOD mission requirements.
Demonstrated experience in setting organizational vision, developing technical strategies and executing on ensuing projects.
Strong ability to couple conceptual level thinking, creativity and resourcefulness with detailed project execution.
Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with technical peers in academia, national laboratories and industry to keep abreast of the state-of-the-art in PNT technology.
Willingness to travel to engage in customer discussion as well as industrial and academic forums.
Experience with the application of Model-Based Engineering approaches to trade space exploration and concept development.
Understanding of the DOD budgeting, solicitation and acquisition processes.
