The Emerging Security Products team within the Digital Security and Resilience organization (Microsoft’s own enterprise security organization) has the mission to bring to bear the best of Microsoft’s own security products. Our team works closely with our own security service teams and product team partners, industry leaders and security start-ups to evaluate, improve and on-board the latest and greatest enterprise security technology available to defend Microsoft. We also provide early-stage feedback to our product team partners to ensure that our own industry leading products incorporate the practitioner’s perspective for better enterprise outcomes through improved usability, scalability and tighter integration across the enterprise product portfolio.

This role requires a combination of security knowledge with an architect’s mindset for defining the approach for acceptable technology usage in the environment. This opportunity will give you broad exposure to technology and security trends in the industry and you’ll be defining and driving security best practices across core services engineering in partnership with your DSR counterparts.

This leader will build partnerships with Microsoft product leaders to identify and ensure delivery of high priority security capabilities for the company. Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads the eval team in delivering views of future security capabilities based on emerging technologies, risks, and threats, with a primary focus on Microsoft products and features but including third-party products where needed.

  • Collaborates with security service owners and security leaders to provide input on Microsoft security products and services.

  • Conducts complex analysis of risks, security controls, and operational capabilities needed to enable Microsoft business without incurring increased risk.

  • Provides oversight and management of team assessments, status communications, and presentations to inform information security and other stakeholders of progress to strategy and risks across multiple technology areas as the leader for the security architect team.

  • Obtain stakeholder support and initiatives to ensure that coordination exists between security, architecture, integration, and operations.

  • Partner with other stakeholders to provide on-going engagement with security controls and identify key risk metrics.

  • Produce high-quality papers, presentations, recommendations, and findings for senior executives and external customers.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • 8+ years in an Information Technology delivery field and including experience with security architecture, engineering or operations

  • 4+ years management experience with engineering, operations or compliance in a large enterprise

  • 3+ years cyber security experience; security industry and products, enterprise security architecture and/or security operations

Preferred:

  • Ability to manage complex technical projects including collaborating with other teams, building relationships, navigating effectively across group boundaries Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate and manage change in a highly dynamic environment

  • Demonstrated ability to make prioritization and trade-off recommendations that support program execution

  • Demonstrated success as a leader in the management of an engineering or operations team

  • Masters in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field or equivalent in work experience

  • Demonstrated experience providing written and verbal presentations to senior executives, and executive bodies

  • Security domain knowledge on security industry and products, enterprise security architecture and security operations

  • Managing engineers and program managers in a large-scale cloud environment

  • Prior leadership in running security services in an enterprise security organization in a large enterprise

  • Enthusiastic, moderately technical, strategic thinker, and inclusive leader
