Microsoft Corporation Principal Program Manager in Cambridge, Massachusetts

The Microsoft CX+ Assurance team is looking for an experienced leader who can support a growing team of Program Managers to drive end-to-end programs and solutions supporting Microsoft’s strategic customers and partners in assurance, compliance, and regulatory initiatives within financial services and other regulated industries.

In this cross-functional role, you will support a talented group of Program Managers and collaborate directly with top regulated industry customers and a diverse set of stakeholders across Microsoft to shape the programs and solutions that customers use in adopting Microsoft cloud services. This work begins with understanding both articulated and unarticulated customer needs, and continues with designing, building and scaling solutions end-to-end from business model to customer experience. You will need to recruit, hire and invest in the people on your team and help them develop and grow to meet our dynamic business challenges and embody our core Microsoft values of respect, accountability, and integrity.

You should have a passion for understanding customer requirements and develop a broad and deep understanding of customer experience specific to assurance in the financial services ecosystem. You will learn how mission-critical workloads, compliance, and ISV solutions come together to deliver results on top of Microsoft Cloud Services. You will need to understand the challenges that affect banking and capital markets customers on a global scale and help design the technology and adoption approach that accelerates a new generation of mission-critical transformation for these customers. This team is tackling exciting engineering and business problems directly with customers across the Microsoft cloud, including Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, Microsoft Power Platform, and GitHub. Our work has high visibility with the Microsoft senior leadership team and many opportunities to share our successes and receive support and guidance. More specifically, you will:

  • Support a growing team of Program Managers using Microsoft’s model, coach, care best practices while being invested in every team member’s growth and success.

  • Create clarity for the team, motivate them, and effectively prioritize the team’s work to deliver results.

  • Develop and execute on long-range planning and the team’s core objectives and key results.

  • Communicate program, product, and business strategy and how the team’s work aligns to broader goals.

  • Work directly with customers to understand their business requirements and help them resolve friction in areas related to their adoption of Microsoft Cloud services. You will take ownership of customer dissatisfaction on behalf of Microsoft and work to find a path to resolution, earning customer trust in the process.

  • Maintain trusted partnerships with senior leaders across a wide array of disciplines and teams.

  • Have a drive to create and improve a world-class system to ensure we have the right capacity available in the right places at the right time. This role requires someone who can constantly anticipate the customer needs across future horizons and ensure we are building to be ready.

  • This is a role with customer interaction supporting a global customer base


Minimum qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Program/Product Management experience

  • Excellent cross-discipline leadership, collaboration and influencing skills. Lead, drive change and influence without authority across groups and executives

  • Ability to build relationships with, and influence, external customers and partners

  • Experience with building on Microsoft cloud services

  • Experience defining, measuring, innovating and driving change in large-scale software products and systems

  • Ability to concisely frame problems, design simple solutions and make decisions based on data and metrics

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate business problems, alternatives, and product strategy

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous leadership experience of 5 or more people

  • Experience in financial services or other regulated industries
