Microsoft Corporation Principal Site Reliability Engineering Manager in Cambridge, Massachusetts

Microsoft is seeking a site reliability engineering manager to join the Digital Security & Resilience (DSR) organization as we undergo the journey to ensure that the right devices get access to the right resources at the right time, protected each step of the way.

With your experience in leading engineering functions, mentoring and nurturing teams, and knowledge of large-scale enterprise infrastructure, data processing and overall service health, you will champion our own secure device digital transformation and support hundreds of thousands of employees as they seek to empower every person on the planet to securely accomplish more.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a cross-functional, highly visible, operations team supporting multiple security services and customers.

  • Support and nurture engineers across varying experience levels, with an emphasis on continuous learning and career development.

  • Create clarity and generate energy within the team; deliver success for DSR.

  • Drive security objectives with measurable key results throughout the organization and obtain support from external stakeholders.

  • Identify tactical and strategic opportunities to improve service health, performance, reliability, and telemetry.

  • Represent the service and communicate its needs effectively at all levels.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with partner teams; creating opportunities to contribute to the success of others or leverage their efforts to achieve internal goals.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • 8+ years of Site Reliability or Software Engineering experience with teams working on large scale cloud services.

  • 5+ years of people manager experience.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of a cloud computing environment such as Microsoft Azure would be an advantage.

  • Background in delivering security services at scale.

  • BS/BA in Computer Science

  • Experience designing, building, servicing, and driving ongoing improvement of service infrastructure & systems.

  • Track record of improving reliability, availability, and performance of cloud services.

  • Track record of people management focus; building healthy, diverse, high functioning teams.

  • Excellence in written and verbal communication and ability to partner for success across all levels of organization and technical depths.

  • A customer-first and growth mindset to uphold our north star and culture.
