Cambridge Mobile Telematics Principal Software Engineer in Cambridge, Massachusetts

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with design and architect experience to produce and implement functional software solutions. In this role you will collaborate with upper management to define software requirements and take the lead on operational and technical projects. In this role, you should be able to work independently with little supervision. You should have excellent organization and problem-solving skills. If you also have hands-on experience in software development and agile methodologies, we’d like to meet you. Your goal will be to develop high-quality software that is aligned with user needs and business goals.


  • Develop high-quality software design and architecture

  • Collaborate with team members to determine best practices and requirements for software

  • Oversee and support the coaching and training of team members to ensure all necessary employees are confident in the use of software applications

  • Identify, prioritize and execute tasks in the software development life cycle

  • Design and implement efficient algorithms for processing large volume of data

  • Develop tools and applications by producing clean, efficient code

  • Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting

  • Document development phases and monitor systems

  • Ensure software is up-to-date with latest technologies


  • Proven ability of design and implementation software applications

  • Top-notch programming skills and in-depth knowledge with Python

  • Hands-on experience with AWS (EC2, Lambda, S3, VPC, Route 53, CloudWatch, IAM, etc.)

  • Experience with Linux/Unix Operating systems

  • Extensive experience in software development, scripting and project management

  • Experience working on large-scale software projects

  • Demonstrated knowledge of web applications, cybersecurity and open source technologies

  • Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude

  • Professional experience analyzing code for weaknesses and errors, and overseeing plans to improve them

  • Experience designing secure software systems based upon industry-specific specifications

  • Experience working within Agile environment

  • Strong troubleshooting ability; capable of diagnosing complex issues

  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills

  • Experience with Bluetooth-based and location-based applications a plus

  • Familiarity with working with mobile applications a plus

  • 7+ years of professional software development experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science or quantitative field

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science or quantitative field a plus
