PROGRAM COORDINATOR, Office of Engineering Outreach Programs (OEOP)-MIT Online Science, Technology, and Engineering Community (MOSTEC), to participate in the implementation of the MOSTEC Program. Will identify and implement strategies to expand and innovate the program, working as part of a collaborative team. The primary responsibilities will be to coordinate staffing (undergraduate, graduate, and professional teaching staff), logistics, student recruitment and selection, and student/parent communications and engagement. Will also take the lead on implementing the national programs’ student selection process. MOSTEC is a rigorous, six-month enrichment program that exposes over 100 rising high school seniors from across the U.S. to science and engineering fields. The program has had great success helping underrepresented/underserved students pursue undergraduate education at some of the top institutions in the country, including MIT.
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree, preferably in science, engineering, or education; at least three years’ related experience in program development, program coordination, and/or education; demonstrated commitment to diversity and serving diverse constituents; experience with high school students and coordinating program staff, including undergraduates, graduate students, and professionals; leadership and project coordination skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Excel) and cloud-based collaboration tools (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox); good judgment in unexpected situations and with confidential information; ability to multitask, remain organized, and work effectively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing work environment; strong interpersonal, facilitation, presentation, and oral and written communication skills; and ability to collaborate in a team with diverse backgrounds and skill sets. Experience and competency with online education and distance learning, training in a scientific/technical field, and experience in outreach programs preferred. Master’s degree and MIT experience a plus, as is ability to write and communicate verbally in Spanish. Job #16066-N
Must be able to work some evening and weekend hours while the program is in session. Must also be able to live on campus during the five-day MOSTEC conference. This is a one-year appointment that may be eligible for renewal contingent upon available funding.Employment will be conditional upon the satisfactory completion of a background check.revised 7/19/18
